+ Pink Floyd The description found there fits them so well, after all! More elaborate than classic rock but less 'out there' than most "true" prog bands musically -and I do love them for what they are.

Tagging all the albums!!!! How much time will you need for this!?!?!? Coming back to the topic: I guess most of the quarrels result from the same reason: some albums are particularly more prog influenced than many mainstream works, a recent example is Queen... Even Deep Purple has become much controversial. I have some other names in mind: (not suggesting their inclusion in the archives, of course!) Alice Cooper That's all, sorry! my time's up! |

Listen to Turkish psych/prog; you won't regret:
Baris Manco,Erkin Koray,Cem Karaca,Mogollar,3 Hürel,Selda,Edip Akbayram,Fikret Kizilok,Ersen (and Dadaslar) (but stick with the '70's, and 'early 80's!) |

The Melody Maker in the late 70's had a centre page spread on the "new American rock", which included short pieces on (if my memory serves me well): Meatloaf, Kansas, Styx, Mahogany Rush and a few others. The MM quite prissily made the point that America was catching up with British prog rock, with such bands - implying American prog started to come into its own about 1976 or 7 (??????????????). Hence, Todd Rundgren/Utopia, Touch and perhaps (American) Gypsy being forgotten. Any other old farts remember this piece and add to the list of bands reviewed?

Doesn't any band who survive more than a year in the rock industry, have to experiment with their music or else stagnate? |

Nope. Turn on MTV and most of those bands have been around a couple of years. |
