That's quite a broad selection. So you don't like bright prog, simplistic and accessible prog, dark prog or complex prog? At least, that's how it seems. Just so I know, what bands DO you like?

From his name I'd guess Camel..

Another one for Gentle Giant (I hate those irritating vocals)
Also :
Peter Hammill (I like when he sings but not when he screams like a punk !!!)
the polish neo-prog bands (too much clichés in these Marillion-inspired bands)
Henry Cow and most of the RIO bands I have listened to (are they able to write music ?)
Frank Zappa (his guitar solos are really irritating and his nosy vocals even more)
Robert Wyatt's voice (not his drumming)
And one thing I cannot understand is how one can hate Pink Floyd, I mean the space-rock driven band, not the Barrett-lead band which music was still psychedelic ? All their albums, except maybe The final Cut and A momentary lapse of reason, are great.

"Magma was the very first gothic rock band" (Didier Lockwood)

Yes (I have Relayer and Close to the edge, I feel nothing whith them)
Pink Floyd (I enjoy them sometimes, but only sometimes. I don´t feel they are the genious that it seemed to be)

noo...no i hate them. Yea, i hate them a lot. I cant stang growling. His clean voice is great though

I can strangle a canary in a tin can and it would be really original, but that wouldn't save it from sounding like utter sh*t.

This my standard answer to anyone who dislikes Akerfeldt's growling.
Listen to Damnation. Not one growl on the WHOLE ALBUM.
Then tell us what you think.

A general theme seems to be emerging about most disliked prog bands!
- VGG
- KING CRIMSON
- GENTLE GIANT
and
4. 'Post Moving Pictures' RUSH is aweful.
Oh, i almost forgot about Zappa

^ prog without VDGG, KC, GG or R? no way.
BTW: "aweful" ... you have to decide if you mean "awesome" or "awful". IMO Awesome is more appropriate for the above listed bands.

Of course by reading this thread you seem to be in a very small majority who likes these bands!

Genesis
I can certainly appreciate them, they're all very talented muscians, and Peter Gabriel is one of the greatest frontmen ever, but there's just something about their music that I just can't get into. There's a few songs that I love (Watcher of the Skies, Supper's Ready, The Knife), but the other songs just don't do much for me.

Yes, I really believe that I'm a member of a "small majority" of people who like VDGG, KC and GG.
But I see your point ... to return to the topic:
I don't particularly like:
- Marillion
- Genesis
- Cynic
- Hawkwind
