80's rush. 70's is awesome, but I just don't like 80's.

I really could never get into Yes. I understand why a lot of people like them, but having "America" as a favorite song, after hearing CTTE, TFTO and Fragile kinda says it all...

Another one for King Crimson here. A poor man's 'Yes' IMO. Also add Gentle Giant, VGG & Rush's 80's output to my list!
Ummmm....I think YES would disagree with you. YES has the highest respect for King Crimson....the two bands ARE NOTHING ALIKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And even though I disagree with you on Gentle Giant and Van Der Graaf Generator.....that's your opinion and you are entitled to it. |

Funny you say that, Marillion is the only (as of right now) neo-prog I like.

Outside of just bad vocals or music with no melody I usually can find something I like about most bands. I can only take Pink Floyd in measured amounts because the sound itself is a bit repetitious but I don't dislike it.

Pink Floyd for me. I think everything else that's been mentioned. Now don't
get me wrong, I do like Pink Floyd, but I think they are hyped up way too
much. For example, I think Crimson, Yes, Genesis, Tull, or any of the other
"bigger" prog bands are much more advanced than Floyd was. That is only
my opinion, keep in mind.

Did you like how the one person (can't remember his name) from Marillion
criticized ELP? He said they never wrote a song in their lives. Bastard.

Definitely DREAM THEATER I just cannot understand
why all the fuss with such a boring band!. Certainly they are excellent
musicians, but their compositions are so dull and lack any substance
compared to other bands in the same genre like Pain of Salvation or
Arena.
