Ummmm....I think YES would disagree with you. YES has the highest respect for King Crimson....the two bands ARE NOTHING ALIKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And even though I disagree with you on Gentle Giant and Van Der Graaf Generator.....that's your opinion and you are entitled to it. |

I really could never get into Yes. I understand why a lot of people like them, but having "America" as a favorite song, after hearing CTTE, TFTO and Fragile kinda says it all...

Dream Theater: What's all the fuss about?!?? Like a spoiled teenager
driving a fast car that Daddy bought them. All style, and no
substance...
Also Kansas, Zappa and up until recently Gentle Giant.
I have given up on Kansas and Zappa, but I have since purchased GG's "The Power and The Glory" and "Freehand" and
will be locking myself in a room with them until I 'get' them...

I have gotten into everything, really. The only time I give up a band is when they're too poppish for me, but never because they're too complex.
I love KC, Rush, GG, and most of those other people named

It's not that I "can't handle" Genesis or Floyd, its simply that I
don't like their sounds much. They're no more "genre defining" than
King Crimson or Van Der Graaf Generator (the latter's influence is so
often downplayed) and I couldn't give a monkey's how they were received
in "your circle". Musical taste is a subjective matter and everyone
will come across bands that they may feel they OUGHT to like, but for
one reason or another lack the charm others find in them.

Rush (except for maybe a dozen songs), Ayreon, Flower Kings (and I really wanted to like them!), Ozric Tentacles (though I understand why many people like them), Happy the Man. I'll think of others, I'm sure.
Peace.
