I think that this is not a big problem, EL is reviewing each new review anyway, so the ultimate judgement is made by a human being and not by a database rule. I think that there are good reviews with less than 50 words (not many, but still), and the 50 characters simply make it harder for people to post crap reviews (dada dsda dasdasad asd reviews). [/QUOTE] I agree 100% |

ANGRA - Evil Warning EP (1994)
Review (Permanent link) by Tane McLeay @ 8:39:33 AM EST, 9/12/2005 — Autumn Stone are a diverse alternative rock band from Wellington, New Zealand.
They have a sound, which can be described in a few simple words: beautiful, exciting and moving. Acoustic guitars, sweeping electric guitars, bizarre lyrics and raw emotion all add to the sound of Autumn Stone. With a strong emphasis on songwriting, expect to hear dynamic music with strong melody and harmony. I recently bought the five track EP 'Payload' and here are my impressions of the third track - Knife. Knife opens with the voice of honesty. He admits that whilst she is lovely she is not the one. His melancholic vocal line straddles the single guitar, the voice which represents the girl who hasn't yet comprehended the meaning of his words. Her increasing anxiety is personified by the gritty guitars as she begins to question why his heart is made of stone. The chorus embodies the conflict of emotions between boy and girl. He is ready to move on while her world has just been torn apart. A short reprieve from the argument occurs in the second verse as the boy attempts to placate the girl with the idea that some things are not meant to be. The driving toms indicate high emotion as she begins to reflect upon their relationship. Her anger begins to fester as she fantasizes upon the details that she imagines him to have omitted. At the same time a harmonic vocal line indicates that he just wants her to accept that there is no chance for reconciliation. The song quickly builds toward its climax as she makes a decision in madness that if she can't have him no one will. Knife won it's category in the Wellington Song Writing Event and was placed overall runner-up. Autumn Stone are based in Wellington and are currently compiling their first album. You can request Autumn Stone on radio and television. Download Knife for free on the Autumn Stone website. www.autumnstone.co.nz A mistake at best, spam at worst.

DEEP PURPLE* (UNDER EVALUATION) - In Rock (1970)
Review (Permanent link) by Herbie53 @ 11:49:56 PM EST, 9/12/2005 — This is a good album of HARD ROCK...
BUT THIS IS NOT PROG ROCK AT ALL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love Deep Purple, specially the Coverdale/Hughes years, but this band have nothing to do with Prog Rock... Because of it I will give only 2 stars for this album...I think in brief this site will need change his name for Rock Archives !!! Although I agree with what he says.

OPETH - Ghost Reveries (2005)
Review (Permanent link) by flu boy @ 5:35:18 PM EST, 9/13/2005 — This is the best progressive death metal CD ever released. It pushes the boundaries of what progression in music is. Other reviewers have pointed out the strengths of this album. I agree...I would like to just point out that it is a classic masterpiece in extreme progressive music.
Easy, if you please...

YES - Close to the Edge (1972)
Review (Permanent link) by Yaniko @ 11:20:16 AM EST, 9/15/2005 — Not really my favorite album (FRAGILE is probably the best one, IMO), but my favorite band... I think YES has given us most of the best tracks of prog rock. Thanks guys !! I've seen YES in PARIS in 1978 (this time has gone..) I hope I'll can see them next time in France. They are allways awesome.

I know it's against the site rules, but I was sad to see the review in Spanish of the MAGO DE OZ album "Gaia" get the axe. From my quick scan it was a nicely-written review: better than many reviews written in English. Oh, well. Easy Livin: If you still have access to the review, PM it to me -- or post it here -- and I'll translate it for the site. (This is a one-off offer, as I'm up to my eyeballs and next Tuesday will probably be offline for several weeks, but I feel a bit sorry for the reviewer.)

Just back from a few days holidays! Dragon, yes, got that one, spam I think! Thrang, I think my fellow admins took care of that one. Cygnus, Yup, got those ones OK SD, I try to be totally impartial when it comes to vetting the reviews, whether I or anyone else likes the album or not is irrelevant. Are they good reviews or not is my sole concern? Dragon, Kayak reviews added to my old reviews check, likely to go I think. Yes dealt with. TP, I think one of my admin colleagues must have dealt with that one. Fitz, sorry, once it's deleted it's gone. Thanks for the offer, if you notice any in the future you'd be prepared to do that for, PM me with the translation, and I'll post it.
