Topic: Choice of bands Posted: July 18 2005 at 13:40 |
Although these bands all kick butt- I would have to choose the Eagles- I never get tired of their music- NEVER!

The Eagles are great ... I'll never grow tired of Hotel California. Ok, maybe of the song, but NOT of the album!

Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac was one of the best blues rock bands ever: the line-up of Green, Kirwan, Spencer, McVie and Fleetwood was absolutely phenomenal and they produced quite a few classic tracks such as Oh Well, Black Magic Woman, Rattlesnake Shake etc. and they were an exceptional high-energy live act as well.
So I'm gonna have to say that what you wrote above is utter nonsense.
The later pop albums are of course crap, with the exception of Rumours.

For me, it would have to be Supertramp by a nose from the Eagles.

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

FLEETWOOD MAC's "Future Games" (1971) is a lovely, mellow soft
progressive album, with a strong West Coast edge. The follow-up "Bare
Trees" (1972) is also quite progressive in parts, but with a harder,
bluesier jamming edge. Actually, most of their albums have at least one
vaguely proggy track, and contain at least something of excellence.

Exactly the opposite for me! I adore the song, but the rest of the
Eagles catalog is just a bit too slick for me. They have some great
songs, but too many AOR-oriented non-saying ballads and country
noodling for me. But, despite what I just said about their ballads, I
just adore The Last Resort...
Fleetwood Mac, well... decent pop, but there's always been tons of better bands.
Supertramp has at least a great record, Crime of the Century. They get my vote thanks to that one!

Eagles most definately! Fleetwood Mac might be okay, but Supertramp never really did it for me. Perhaps I should go listen to them some more.....

Definitely Supertramp. I like a few songs by The Eagles and Fleetwood Mac, but a whole collection of their albums would kill me!
