GENTLE GIANT Giant For A Day
Review (Permanent link) by Octafish @ 8:47:00 PM EST, 1/17/2005

1 stars  —  No, No, No, No, NO!!! Gentle Giant playing bad-quality pop?...YUCK!!!! But wait a minute, let's see if there are some positive sides about this album...mmmm...let's see...mmm...NOPE! Sorry! NO POSITIVE SIDES!!! The only reason i give this album one star is because of the Gentle Giant name!!! Nothing more!! For completionists ONLY!!!

GENTLE GIANT Giant For A Day
Review (Permanent link) by Face feeler @ 9:05:58 PM EST, 1/17/2005

5 stars  —  THIS ALBUM IS THE BEST!!!!!!! All of these so called reviewers must be stricken with mental illness not to love this album. This is by far Gentle Giants best work, second coming cilivan, and third the missing piece. WOW this album is great. All you people, let go of the past and the bad GG, this is the better giant.

Neither of these look appropriate.

Actually, a lot of love beach reviews suck.

EMERSON LAKE & PALMER (ELP) Love Beach
Review (Permanent link) by Ferdinando Sala @ 8:54:52 AM EST, 4/9/2004

1 stars  —  For a fan of Elp is hard to give such a bad rate to a work of them. unfortunately it has not but to be like this, lack of creativity aimless playing , etc. It had better remained as a tape on the shelves....

EMERSON LAKE & PALMER (ELP) Love Beach
Review (Permanent link) by Tonny larz @ 3:06:54 PM EST, 5/26/2004

1 stars  —  Its a shame.......ELP...do not even try thís at home !! Even going to the dentist seems a relieve...sorry guys....ill stick to: Tarkus.,Trilogy,Brain salad surgery.....this is by all concerned...a waste of time !!!!

EMERSON LAKE & PALMER (ELP) Love Beach
Review (Permanent link) by fabio @ 4:43:04 AM EST, 8/30/2004

1 stars  —  The easiest thing to say is..."Love bitch not beach". I imagine ELP did a silly session while spending time surfing & under the Bahamas sun...it's difficult to understand the reasons behind this album but something went really wrong with those boys...just forget it!

EMERSON LAKE & PALMER (ELP) Love Beach
Review (Permanent link) by Guilherme Baldin the GG fanatic @ 11:30:37 AM EST, 12/22/2004

1 stars  —  The first thing I notice when I saw this album's cover was that Greg Lake wasn't pale anymore, now he had a good summer colour, and the whole band was happy, shiny and with hairy chests. Absurd, three great musicians standing in a beach like this is some "BAYWATCH" TV series. So, was I already had wasted my money on "Works", I just stayed away and ignored it. You should do the same.
You be the judge, Easy

GENESIS Abacab
Review (Permanent link) by Hugues Chantraine @ 9:39:23 AM EST, 2/27/2004

SPECIAL COLLABORATION
1 stars  —  Mr painter can't say it any better than i could ever wish to. Well actually the title track is not that bad , but it is the only sign that the old Gen ever once existed. For the rest this is pityful for progheads , but somehow if this had been a Wham! album , we might think it is good

This review doesn't even make much sense...

GENESIS Abacab
Review (Permanent link) by aztech @ 5:31:28 PM EST, 11/12/2003

2 stars  —  I would say the album is bad but the song abacab and especially DODO are very good so it saves it to an average. Keep it dark and who dunnit are literally crap.Genesis were definetly trying to go pop unfortunately for us prog fans.

Doesn't even meet the 50 word minimum.

Thanks Miracle, Damen,

I haven't reached ELP yet in my retrospective check. I guess the "Love beach" reviews highlight the dilema faced when writing a revieww of an album you don't like.

I know Hugues Chantraine is currently updating some of his earlier reviews.

Always happy to do my civic duty

KING CRIMSON Beat
Review (Permanent link) by Alan @ 2:59:25 PM EST, 2/4/2004

4 stars  —  For some reason, this album gets a bad rap. Yes, it is not Discipline, but it is still very good, with some key late Crimson tunes, some of which are very musical and touching Belew compositions (Neal and Jack and Me, Waiting Man, Two Hands).

KING CRIMSON Beat
Review (Permanent link) by Luke @ 10:30:19 AM EST, 2/29/2004

4 stars  —  this album finally makes me pleased of Crimson music. Crimson and pop music? I can have this feeling listening to Hearbeat but this song is simply great and whole album really interesting. Listen with joy.

KING CRIMSON Beat
Review (Permanent link) by tolgyi @ 4:23:56 PM EST, 6/19/2005

5 stars  —  I think it's a great album. When I heard it first, it was strange after Red. But music of KC is an evolution. Always changing. It won't be good to have 30 Red album. Beat is hard to love at the first time , but if you can feel it, it will great.

None of those meet regulations.

KING CRIMSON The ConstruKction of Light
Review (Permanent link) by Luke @ 10:56:07 AM EST, 2/29/2004

1 stars  —  disaster!!! if you want music by Crimson buy anything else , not this one, this is nightmare. For those who are too happy or too drunk... I don't know what kind of drugs boys from Crimson tried but maybe first song is an answer. Collage of sounds not music - that's what this album is.

Incoherent

KING CRIMSON The ConstruKction of Light
Review (Permanent link) by carl @ 4:41:05 PM EST, 4/19/2004

1 stars  —  I love old King Crimson (1969-74) but this really pales in comparrison to any of those cds. I just never got into it and lost interest. Please, don't make this your starting KC album, its for hardcore fans only! Yucky....if I could, I'd give it a half star.

Again not long enough and not really reviewing the music on the album.

RUSH 2112
Review (Permanent link) by tel @ 11:21:56 AM EST, 5/12/2004

4 stars  —  2112 by far the best effort up to this point . the title track still sends a shiver down my spine as peart conjurs up his vision of the future side 2 also rocks with one duffer in "tears". excellent stuff buy now!!!

RUSH 2112
Review (Permanent link) by Strangiato @ 3:37:55 PM EST, 6/3/2004

5 stars  —  Otro disco esencial, debido en gran parte al tema "2112", el alma mater de este disco y la joya de la primera etapa de Rush por excelencia. Virtuosismo y fuerza a partes iguales.

Another essential disc, mainly due to the theme '2112', the alma mater of this disc and the main jewel of the first stage of Rush's career. Virtuosism and power, at fifty-fifty.

RUSH 2112
Review (Permanent link) by Wesley Willis @ 9:45:53 AM EST, 1/10/2004

5 stars  —  This band played at the Rosemont Horizon...about 15,000 people were at the show...the rock show was awesome...the jam session whupped a polar bear's ass... RUSH! RUSH! RUSH! RUSH!

Rock over London, Rock on, Chicago. Best Buy - Turn on the fun.

Yep, I meant that, sorry for my rusty english.

It's "a trap" where one easily falls when truly hating something... I noted some of these while working with some rarer Landberk releases:

http://www.progarchives.com/Progressive_rock_discography_CD. asp?cd_id=765

http://www.progarchives.com/Progressive_rock_discography_CD. asp?cd_id=766

http://www.progarchives.com/Progressive_rock_discography_CD. asp?cd_id=767

I'm not very convinced, that someone hating their music so much would have even listened, nor bought such ep's and a special release...

typos...

All added to my "have a look at" list guys.

Thanks Eetu, yes many of us agree with you that the present situation with these needs to be looked at.

Traditional Haggis (from Evelyn Hlabse, [email protected])

        1 sheep's pluck (stomach bag)
        2 lb.. dry oatmeal
        1 lb. suet
        1 lb. lamb's liver
        2 1/2 cups stock
        1 large chopped onion
1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper, Jamaica pepper and salt

Boil liver and parboil the onion, then mince them together. Lightly brown the oatmeal. Mix all ingredients together. Fill the sheep's pluck with the mixture pressing it down to remove all the air, and sew up securely. Prick the haggis in several places so that it does not burst. Place haggis in boiling water and boil slowly for 4-5 hours. Serves approximately 12.

Mmmmmh ... delicious.
