Well I tried to play drums, but I'm just to lame. I diden't mean that Carey is BAD technically.. He is a great & skilled drummer... only boring... He isn't as vareid as Mr. Portnoy... And I've also tried to play stuff by Mike... His drumming Mesmerises me sometimes... And no other drummer did that to me... |

Danny Carey. His style is more distinctive and I can easily imagine him play Portnoy's drum parts without any trouble. While I'm sure Portnoy can play Carey's drum parts, I don't really think he'd be comfortable with them. But as some people here vote for Vinnie Colaiuta and Terry Bozzio, I vote for Larry Wright. http://www.drummerworld.com/wishlistdrummers/Larry_Wright.ht ml

Portnoy is pretty damn good, to put it mildly!

Just because he plays about a thousand rythms in one song doesn't mean he is better. I can't think any Portnoy's part that can beat "O baterista" or the YYZ solo. I prefer him from Dany though. Edited by Cygnus |
