PINK FLOYD - Meddle (1971)
Review (Permanent link) by zerpsed @ 9:11:25 PM EST, 8/27/2005
4 stars  —   The entire world is confused about the lyrics in Pink Floyd's song on the Meddle albumn "One of these days". Every source that I've come across states that the one line in this song is: "One of these days I'm going to cut you into little peices." All sources say that same thing and all sources are wrong. Listen carefully to the song and you will hear these words: "One of these days I'm going to drop from the human species." Now that you know this please help me communicate the correct lyrics to all of humanity, quickly before we all drop from the human species. Get the words out before it is to late. Let the record show that the correct lyrics was reveal on 08/27/05. thanks

Not a review of the album. Plus, It's not true. It says "I'm going to cut you into little peices" on the Live at Pompeii DVD.

I posted this in a separate thread, because it is a mistkae rather than abuse, but it will probably be noticed earlier here.

This archives entry refers to the double CD reissue of the two first Kayak albums (See see the sun, Kayak), but both the track listing and the one review posted refer to the single-CD re-issue of See see the sun, which has its own entry in the archvies as well.

YES Close to the Edge
Review (Permanent link) by Drew @ 9:15:11 PM EST, 6/15/2005

2 stars  —  I think this is the most overrated album in prog history- I mean cmon! YES??? Yeah there are some good songs on this album- but its not the best prog- I really feel that people get this album to get in the prog- bandwagon. Good stuff- but not the best= not even close!!

Way too short, doesn't explain any of the points it makes.

YES Close to the Edge
Review (Permanent link) by Sam Kelley @ 12:51:26 PM EST, 3/11/2005

1 stars  —  I really don't dig this album. I would say that Tormato is better than this load of crap, and I hate Tormato! This album is as exciting and awesome as another Rolling Stones Greatest Hits. Don't buy this record. It is a waste of money and is totally overrated. If you are gonna gawk over a Yes album, let it be over Relayer. That album is duh bomb. CHA CHA CHA Cha Cha!

just bashing the album

YES Close to the Edge

5 stars  —  when I heard close to the edge for the 1st time, I said "what the hell is that!!!", now it ended like my favorite song ever.

LISTEN; LISTEN; LISTEN AND LISTEN!!!!! I just don΄t have other words to describe it.

Not a review at all

DREAM THEATER Train Of Thought
Review (Permanent link) by Prog-zilla @ 9:31:03 AM EST, 3/25/2005

1 stars  —  This is another pedestrian album from a highly overrated band. Don't get me wrong: these guys have chops to kill, but good chops do not make great progressive rock. The biggest problem I have with this band is that all their songs sound alike - melodically clumsy and harmonically poor. There just is not enough original ideas, although there are occasional interesting instrumental passages. The vocalist just sucks, and overall they sound like a neo-prog band on steroids.

not a word about the album, a revew if the band

That's actually pretty hilarious. "There are some good songs on this album" - but if there are only 3 tracks on the album, where are the bad tracks then?

MO, weak but OK I reckon. (As a rule, I'm not going to pull anyone up on their star ratings, it's too much of a minefield, especially when ratings without reviews are accepted. Makes for good discussion in the forum though!Wink)

Sure thing Easy! I'm around, maybe not as often, but still here.

Think my reviews are usually objective but I try not to lose the right amount of bitterness within some of them!  Sorry that Procol Harum didn't make it in the end, just a matter of appreciation and perspective. Can't win them all, huh?

Cheers!

Review (Permanent link) by DeGarmo @ 10:08:04 PM EST, 6/26/2005

5 stars  —  This is a Masterpiece!!!...what a great album...with this record, Queensryche show us their hability to make new things...this album make a change on the music of Queensryche...this is a Prog album

Not much of a review, doesn't say anything about the album

QUEENSRYCHE Operation: Mindcrime
Review (Permanent link) by hammill @ 4:48:27 PM EST, 6/11/2005

5 stars  —  well it was released the same year with iron maiden's 7th son of a 7th son. when someone asked bruce dickinson if 7th son is the highest moment of creativeness for maiden he said yes, but there is a long way to go and reach perfection after the new standards that ryche set with operation midncrime. well bruce said it all.

Barely talks about the album at all, mentions Iron Maiden instead

5 stars  —  This is an example of the perfect album. It doesnt get boring.......I cant even explain really. You must get it to understand its greatness. The strongest track is easily The Mission. That is a great and powerful song. It is a great and powerful album.

He doesn't really give a review, he even says he can't explain anything in his review

QUEENSRYCHE Operation: Mindcrime
Review (Permanent link) by George @ 3:30:49 PM EST, 2/6/2004

5 stars  —  Forget Dream Theater! Forget Master of Puppets! This is (and will ever be) the best metal album of all times. After operation, everything got worse. Metal doesn't get any better than on I Don't Believe in Love or Eyes of A Stranger. Even Maiden and Priest didn't release anything that came close.

Says nothing about the album

That's all, for that album.

This is obviously a review for the DVD, not the CD. Could you please move it? Thanks!

This one is still in the wrong place.

Thanks Damen, Joren, I'll have a look at them.

Tux, as rule, I'll usually delete the text and leave the rating, so they become ratings without reviews. If I'm e-mailing the reviewer, I offer to delete the review and rating, so they can re-submit an appropriate review.

The words "One of these days I'm gonna cut you into little pieces" appear in the "Pink Floyd in Pompeji" movie in written form, so people can hardly be wrong about it.

YES Fragile progressive rock album and reviews YES - Fragile (1972)
Review (Permanent link) by john @ 1:50:47 PM EST, 8/30/2005
1 stars  —   Jimmy young was right to give this album a low score. he is also a nob because roundabout is the only decent song on it, roundabout rocks.

And what idiot said it was self indulgent, isn't that what music should be about? would you rather them not indulge themselves and enjoy playing their music? would you rather them make music just for the cash, trying to please all tastes to keep it rolling in?

YES Fragile
Review (Permanent link) by james mcconnorson @ 10:22:01 AM EST, 2/19/2004

1 stars  —  As a infactuated young man lost in this crazy world in the the late 60's, hearing 'Time and a word' for the first time quite simply became a religious experince. A proverbial musical road to Damicas experience. Life suddenly had a meaning, a direction. I was in love. As my first encounter with the spectualar, fasinating, beautiful music of Yes, I felt overwhelmed that a band was basically making the type of music I had been waiting my whole life to hear. The 'Yes Album' followed and left me incapable of functioning as a normal cilivan in society. All i wanted to do was lie on my bed and indulge myself in that magical album. As you can imagine, I was feverlishing anticipating the next release. After what seemed like years of waiting, the new album was released. I lovingly and carefully placed the fresh, shiny vinyl on my record player, pressed play, and then......DISASTER STRUCK. After a few humilating, soul-destroying listens of the whole record, i reluntantly had to come the conclusion that i had just purchased a fully blown 100% authentic STINKER! The very next day, after waking up, i quickly spun th e record again, in the naive, misguided hope/dream that the day before's nasty experience was just a dream....BUT NO....It was real alright!!! To this day, over 30 years later i rigidly stuck to my promise that i would never listen to THAT band ever again. I can proudly declare (boast) that i have never even CONSIDERED it!

Not much of a review either... A personal experience w/out explaining what is so bad about the album

I agree with his second paragraph, but it has nothing to do with the album.
