Taken from Zappa's album name,a little bit changed.
So,should humor belong in prog rock?

Yes yes yes oh YES!
All good artists should have a sense of humour, whatever field they
work in. Progressive musicians ought to be, and thankfully sometimes
aren't, the exception.
Humourous prog:
- Alamaailman Vasarat
- Ange
- Area
- Banda Elastica
- Capt Beefheart
- Caravan
And on and on and on. Oh, but I MUST give a special mention to Samla
Mammas Manna - huge instrumental talent and utterly hilarious to boot!

Yes.
A good example would be the caveman vocals on Tubular Bells, Pt. 2.

Of course...humor is always good! Zappa was obviously the music master of comedy..but I think there is humor to be found all over prog..
Genesis - Harold the barrel
ELP - Benny the bouncer
Rush - I think Im going bald
Actually I think one of the funniest things in prog wasnt meant to be funny, it was Rick Wakeman eating a curry during a Topographic oceans show in '74 in England. He knew the others were all vegetarians, and hated the album...
etc etc...

And I am not frightened of dying, any time will do, I
don't mind. Why should I be frightened of dying?
There's no reason for it, you've gotta go sometime.
I never said I was frightened of dying.
