Except one part with SYmphony X, they are really boring, even though I do like their albums, it gets really old. Let's try Spastic Ink, Threshold or Evergrey |

Musically they're also great! One of the most inventive "punk" bands. I'll see the thread. |

I started listen TOOL, i think it's better than DT, Genesis orYes, Star with KC is much hard that they think, stonebeard, i think, KC is much sofisticate than DT or other, atn least i think that.
LTE is good, very good, but LTE 2 isn't so good. there`re Chilean band good like Exsimio (www.exsimo.cl), if you go to "Audio" (the page is in Spanish) you can heard the first cd full, and demos of the second, recently it left the oven, is good, or Ergo Sum, but no try with Akineton Retard, dont try!!! (http://www.mylodonrecords.com/, many chilean group, mexican, and someones of the c**try that is beside Chile) Symphny X??, i think they sucks, like Rapsody, another group i fund only one song and it's very god is 4/3 de trio, a french group, and a new gruop is Distand Dream http://www.distantdream.com/home/ or you can go to www.magnacarta.net, here are many proyect of dt and other group, ahh, and, of course, Emerson, Lake & Palmer is an excellent choice and if you like DT, don´t heard Train, it really suck, i almost thing DT was finished when i hear it. |

"The f**kers" are one hell of a f**king ass-licking band! Didn't make any albums though, they f**ked MAANI'S ASS instead |

very nice... thank you all. and continue sending replies, for they will be much appreciated. i know i am about to commit a sin in the world of prog but i gotta say it. i think that "in the court of the crimson king" is a very tedious, silly and a bit overrated album. it is almost pure experimentation. sure there are beautiful parts, but they are always skewed by unnecessary pieces of jangling noise. especially prevelent in "21st century schizoid man" i love the final song though. king crimson and genesis are just not my type of band. i dig rush too, now that i think of it, but they obviously never stick out in my mind because, to me, they seem like a classic rock band "trying" to be progressive, and just not being successful. "symphonic prog", something like yes, is probably what i'm most interested in other than "prog metal" |

I wouldn't write off Genesis so quickly & certainly can't be compared to the tedious King Crimson! |

Symphonic Prog like Yes, then definitely the Neo Progressive Rock like The Flower Kings and Spock's Beard will definitely do. Buy Snow, V for Spock's Beard. Since you are a DT fanatic try TransAtlantic.

If you like symphonic but with a heavier approach you should try out some ARENA albums. I think you'd like 'Contagious' 'Immortal' & 'The Visitor' Edited by Tommy |

And if you like The Flower Kings, try Kaipa and The Tangent.Roine Stolt's all instrumental solo cd Hydrophonia is excellent too.I am really digging the band Karmakanic, another side project by a FK member(Jonas Reingold).Their first album "Entering the Spectra" has a lot of FK members playing on it(Roine Stolt,Tomas Bodin,Zoltan Czorz,Jaime Salazar).Their second "Wheel of Life" is also very good, heavier, sounding like more of a band effort and less like FK.Roine only contributes guitar on a few tracks, and Bodin on one track.Very good band,I hope to see more work from them in the future.

Also,I have made this suggestion before in another thread. If you happen to dig Transatlantic(Morse,Portnoy,Stolt,Trewavas,it doesn't get much better),and buy the cd SMPTe,try to get your hands on SMPTe:The Roine Stolt Mixes.I had SMPTe and then later was fortunate enough to get my hands on a copy of Roine's mixes and the difference is HUGE(for the better,IMHO).

TransAtlantic is so awesome, those 20 minute+ tracks are some of the best epics I've heard.
