There you go, Ivan. The same kind of attitude carried Genesis through their hard times.

A band like Genesis won't never be forgotten, because it's a band that Symphonic Prog fans normally like. Fantômas won't be forgotten because experimental music fans normally likes it. The concept of "different groups of fans of different music" seems to be missing here by Ivan.

only because you said Genesis was the worst prog band ever, if i recall correctly!

Damn, I tried and I tried but I was no able to understand that you said. Please, try again.

Fantomas: The concept of "different groups of fans of different music" seems to be missing here by Ivan.

Fantomas also said: Genesis and Yes are the worst prog bands ever.

seems you dont follow your own standard

Of course I do. I'm a fan of Experimental Music, let us say. As so, I think that Yes and Genesis are bad bands. TO ME they're boring, because it's not the kind of sound that I like. In my "group" of people I'm not the only one.

but you like James LaBrie?  whats experimental about him??????

Nothing. But I don't have a limited point of view, and I like many bands in different styles. I'm "ecletic".

Fantomas I think we are musical foils for one another I do not think there is one band we agree on.

Yep real progressive music is all about making new music by combining diffrent genres and rhytms. And that what yes and genesis did in the 70's they made new music that where never before made by any band. If you compare for example jazz in the 60s it would sure sounded much less complicated that jazz in the 00s put that is a natrural progression. 70s yes and genesis was extremly experimental for the time but ofcourse prog is a genre that devolps fast and that a newer band is more experimental than the 70s band goes without saying. If a band like fantomas has been relesed in the 70s nobody would understand them and just think that they where just another crap band and they properbarely never make and album and work as janitors. It would be like releasing black metal 60s...nobody would care for it.

If it has not been for yes or genesis the prog of today would never have sounded like it does..they managed to create a complety new language of music listened to by hundreds of artists.

Its just like jimi hendrix although there are millions of guitarists that are better than him techincaly you would not have such a high level of guitar playing.

So yes, genesis, king crimson is the cornerstones of what we define as prog music...its ok if you dont like them but calling them crap is calling the entire idea of progressive music crap and you might as well go back to listening to your michael jackson albums.

What a fantastic answer it must have taken you long time to thing out something so constructive as that. Anyway i dont like jimi hendrix but if i say he was crap it would be like saying alot of artists that i actually do love is crap and it would really just be a silly thing to say anyway because music would never be the same without him and i might as well say everybody that played guitar music was crap. But fair enough you are obviosolly one of those that will never understand what true progressive music is all about.

The band Fantomas is good (A bit too loud though), I can't deny this fact, but ithey are only an obscure subterranean group than in 2 or 3 years will be forgotten forever, while people keep talking about Yes, Genesis or PFM 30 + years.

Iván

Those are not alleagable reasons to why a band doesn't suck. If small rodents hadn't existed in the beginning of times, we wouldn't exist today. That doesn't mean that I eat rats for breakfast. Who are you to judge hypothetical matters related to the future? Perhaps you could tell me, when and where exactly I will lose my keys next time in the future, and save me a bill from the locksmith. Also, what difference does it make whether people talks about them? You know, people talk about Green Day, Nickleback, child molesting, George W. Bush, cancer, and hair in the food, as well. That doesn't make any of those things good.
