I've got a few days off this week and I'm thinking of getting the Eurostar to either Brussels or Amsterdam or maybe both - anyway if any members based in Holland or Belgium fancy meeting up or know of any interesting gigs, please pm me.

This Sunday (27) is a thenth Anniversary of Prog-Resiste Fanzine in Verviers (Spirit Of 66) . They have a free gig for members (which I am) that has retro-prog Manlagalla Vallis and Dutch neo-prog band Plackband.

I do not know if I am going or not (130 km east of Brussels) but if you want to meet-up in Brussels..... I'll PM you this , also.

Verviers is 10 km away from the world famous SPA city and the Formula1 Francorchamps  racing circuit. The Area is in the middle of the Ardennes.

I was not really planning on this but since there was two threads about meeting members, We could arrange something from Brussels to Verviers if there are a few takers from Holland , UK and why not France.

Speaking of France , Les Tritonales in Paris is starting on June 6th with MOVING GELATINE PLATES reformation.

Syzygy,

There's a couple of small CD & LP shops very near Place Rogier as you're walking down back towards the Bourse (and Grand Place) from Place Rogier or from Gare du Nord. It's on the left hand side as you're walking towards the Bourse, on the same side of the road as all the porno shops. I think the road is called Blvd. Adolphe Max. If you get the chance, check it out: quite a lot of very obscure Prog there, amongst other things. I've bought of a couple of CDs there in the past. It's only a 5 or 10 minute walk from the Bourse, and you can always enjoy a Leffe Blonde at one of bars en route.

Yup about shopping in for prog music. Both shops Fitz recommend are used CD shop but Music United (which had a small but interesting prog section ) shut down at the end of last summer. Too few people buying cds...... The other one is called Disc-O-Sold , some things to be found but you have to look long and hard.

Metrophone has a bit of prog but much more metal and progmetal but also gothic music. I bought VDGG's present album for € 14. MusicMania is close by , has very interesting prices for mid-prices cds downstairs but specializes in Alternative and other. New reissues are available and a small selection of prog also. Both are close to the Grand Place

Music Room is not in the center of the city, but has a good section but is more expensive than Metrophone but should still be interesting for Brits.

However the real Pandora's Box is Music Emporium in Namur (40 Km south east of Brussels on the road to Luxembourg). I do not think there is another record shop like that one on the Continent (maybe Ultima Thule in Leicester) let alone in the world. Half of what you could even wish for is in stock , with so many more that you meant to investigate being present. It is a bit like Ali Baba's cave. However , bring your VISA Gold card because (world famous because of his controversial mail order for vinyl)) Philippe Collignon is expensive (I think nothing under € 20) but the choices/temptation  are so numerous that I never managed to stay within the limit I had imposed myself.

Thanks for the advice guys. I'm having a blast just being a tourist, found a couple of good shops near the Bourse already. I hope I don't walk into a porno shop by accident - that would be really awful . The hotel's in the Place Jeu Du Balle, cheap and cheerful.
