Topic: Best song on ITCOTCK Posted: May 22 2005 at 18:57 |
So what is it? I vote for 21st Century. That song is just so powerful.
Sry if this has been done before.

Okay, no doubt this will be a minority view: as much as I like the energy of Schizoid, I'm a big fan of I Talk To The Wind. I love the harmonies, the flute, the dreamy atmosphere and ditto lyrics, the vocal harmonies, and because it's so completely different from Schizoid.
But all tracks are equally good, though some are more equal than others ...

- Epitaph (great sinfield Lyrics, great Lake vocals to handle them, great track overall, IMO KC's best)
- In the Court of the Crimson King (so powerful)
- I Talk to the Wind (Beautiful flute, but can be tedious)
- 21st Century Schizoid Man (great sax, but repetitive)
- Moonchild Blah

Why??? Because of the "endless ending"?

I love 'em all, but i think "In the court..." is the best, really close
is talk to the wind. Epitaph is a good song, but it is soooo gloomy and
depressing and desperate, it is emotionally, for me, a hard song
to listen.

When I first purchased the album, I was would have said that 21st century schiziod man was my favorite, but Epitaph has really grown on me o'er the past months. The mellotron in that song is so powerful and Sinfield contributes some of his best lyrics of his career. It's spectacular!

And I am not frightened of dying, any time will do, I
don't mind. Why should I be frightened of dying?
There's no reason for it, you've gotta go sometime.
I never said I was frightened of dying.

Epitaph is just too good. I did an oral presentation on Peter Sinfield and presented that song to my class. One of the best performance by Greg Lake too!

1. Epitaph
2. ITCOTCK
3. 21st century schizoid
4. I talk to the wind
5. moonchild
However, all 5 are SUPERB, not a single average track on here. I even
like moonchild a lot, the last part of it definitely has its purpose
and is not just "brainles" filler.

Moogtron, is that you who voted for moonchild? why do you hate me?
But seriously it makes an otherwise excellent album almost sub par in my opinion. Dull, pointless, not even good jamming

Title track is simply the best to my taste - miles ahead more progressive than all the rest!
