i love prog and everything but....BLACK SABBATH ROCKS! my favorite non prog band. they were influenced by yes so clearly its beautiful...*tears*

prog to me is being ahead of its time....not just having moogs, classical music, and insane licks.......the grunge bands are a great example to me... same with the the old punk bands

the who, sabbath, steely dan, the pretenders, xtc, rem (pre suck ass), missing persons, the b52s, tears for fears, the clash, sex pistols are my good ole non prog bands

nirvana, pearl jam, foo fighters, red hot chili peppers, crossfade, coldplay, tool, nine inch nails, greenday (before suckass POS mofo american idiot came out), and some really new ones-fall out boy, alkaline trio, and silverstein......ya

but id rather listen to their great grandpappys crimson,floyd,yes, and rush anyday

come you proggers out there spill yer guts!

nothin hes got he realy needs

thebourgeoisie8 = rare genius

yep, todays prog even late 80's prog was basically a rehash by a bunch of wannabees!

Depeche Mode and NIN in the late 80's to early 90's was closer to progressive progressive rock than any of the neo clonus horror bands, as well as truly evolved prog from Micheal Shrieve -

The Big Picture or Michael Brook - Cobalt Blue. Around 2000 Grovjobb - Vatternas fest and the Mermen - Amazing Health and Happiness Roadshow are closer to the evolution of prog than any of the goon squads Ive heard lately.

Stick with the pro's not the no's
