Hello, I'm quite new here. I hope that someone can help me out. :)

On an old tape I have a song which I like very much. The only thing is that I don't know the artist and songtitle. Since there is no chance to put an mp3 on this forum I'll give the words:

Stories we could tell
As we have sailed around the globe
From arctic to antarctic
We saw heaven we saw hell
Home was never home
So many seasons passed
between departures and arrivals
no we never cease to roam

I can hear you calling, but don't waste your breath on me
cause i won't abandon ship
I will go down with her, so move on and let me be
now that our voyages end here.

go when there's still time
sailors take your chance
and get all into the lifeboat
you can't make me change my mind

goodbye buccaneer
If you do safely reach the coast
Would you see my wife and tell her
that she needn't wait for me
I still hear you calling, but don't waste your breath on me
'Cause I won't abandon ship
I will go down with her, so move on and let me be
now let our voyages end here

I've searched the whole internet line by line, but without any result. I think this song is typical Prog Rock without drums, but with a huge orchestration of synthesizers and classic guitar. Oh by the way, there are two classic guitar solo's in it. One halfway the song, and one at the end.

I hope that someone can give me the final answer :)

Thanks in advance!

Wout

Is it a mix tape or something?

Yeah, well it's a recording of a Dutch radioprogram. They also play Gemini, Andreas Vollenweider, Chris De Burgh and Diethelm & Famulari. There's no commentary from a DJ or something. That's what it makes so difficult.

Greetz,

Wout

I spoke to a specialist in pop music. He told me that it sounded "too English" to be sang by a Dutch group. So they must be English. Some others remembered that this artist also appeared with this song in a Dutch popshow called Toppop. But we're talking about 20 years ago or more, so I don't know if it's true. But still I hope someone will recognize it. :)

Thanks,

Wout

Why don't you put your mp3 file on the forum for us to listen to ? It would be much easier !
