Though I only know their two best albums, Leftoverture and Point of Know Return, I do like Kansas and listen to these album quite often. They're not my favourite band, but I find them quite good - and I enjoy Steve Walsh's vocals as well!

I should have made more answer options available, because this way we can mainly say that most people like this band.
Nevertheless, I think this poll demonstrates the tendency that people like the bands from their own country more then foreigners. This perhaps is only natural. But since Americans constitute large part of all prog community this usually overrates American bands. Other band in this category should be Spock's Beard / Neal Morse.
Just a thought

Last time I checked the maps, America (subdivided into North, Central and South America) includes many countries...
I am american (born in Chile, live in Mexico) and I like the US Band Kansas.

Kansas is a great band. Arcer said it best about the most hummable prog. They never traded technical skill for melody or skilled songwritting. They are great musicans on top of that. Best albums for me are : Song for America, Leftoverature, Self Titled and Somewhere to Elesewhere.

Non-American, like Kansas, but the early stuff (as most people upstairs)
Their '90's stuff are good, too. Wish they didn't go AOR in the '80's...
But who didn't, anyway?!?!?
At least let's appreciate them for their revival, which few could manage.

Listen to Turkish psych/prog; you won't regret:
Baris Manco,Erkin Koray,Cem Karaca,Mogollar,3 Hürel,Selda,Edip Akbayram,Fikret Kizilok,Ersen (and Dadaslar) (but stick with the '70's, and 'early 80's!)

continent of America, you should maybe use UnitedStatesian or something like
that...
From Webster's Dictionary (you seem not to own one, though you propose I read one):
American: 1: an Indian of North America or South America 2: a native or
inhabitant of North America or South America.
By the way don't insult me, unless you, of course, want to
show your level of "education", which for me, btw, is quite clear.

Well I'm not American, I'm Canadian. It's hard to show an appreciation
for music coming from the US, I think for myself, considering they eat
up most of our music scene having our govt fighting for notice of
Canadian music artists. But I still love Kansas. They're a band with
very uplifting music. That kind of music with superb musicianship is
difficult to find in my opinion; having awesome skill on an instrument
seems to make one snobby, imo.

I didnt mean to insult anyone, but it was a proper response after your post.
Unfortunatly you skipped other meaning of the word in the same dictionary:
3 : a citizen of the U.S.
If someone says he is American that usually means that he is from US. Even if it was not clear you could ask more friendly way you would get friendly answer.
My education is not your business as well as I don't need any geography lessons from you.

I'm American....and Kansas was forced on us by our local radio stations to sell more copies for Columbia Records. Kansas - trailblazers in corporate rock.

For your information the name of the country is The United States of America not just the United States. So American is perfectly acceptable name to call a person from this country. Your country is not Mexico of America it is Mexico so Mexican is the proper name for someone coming from your country as is Canadian from someone from Canada.
