Yes, I can: Start with "Vienna" if you like new wave/synth and then "Rage in eden". If you like Glam/Punk you should listen to and start with their debut; "Ultravox"...then just ride with the flow....

The very best off suffices I think.

If I Was, the best of Ultravox & Midge Ure is decent.

Including some of his/their best work

If I Was, Love's Great Adventure, Dancing With Tears In my Eyes, Do They Know It's Christmas, Reap The Wild Wind, Vienna and some others. also some ommissions however. But I can't really recommend a full album, there's always something missing IMO.

According to some Ultravox where better before Midge became member, but I don't know, since I only know Ultravox with him as singer

Ultravox, The Collection is better and more complete I think, but that leaves out If I Was, which I always found to be a great song.

But for a regular studio album I suggest Vienna, read the reviews on the next link, I kind of agree with that one, except I am not that enthousiastic Ultravox - Vienna

I'm always almost unlucky _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Id5ZcnjXSZaSMFMC Id5LM2q2jfqz3YxT

Pre Ure Ultravox is far better, less poppy, more "arty".

NO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

specially not Scorpions... why do you people keep on trying to put all this non prog bands in this site...I mean why is even Radiohead here??? ( before you say anything I am a big Radiohead fan...but thats just not prog) If you keep on putting and putting bands that aren´t prog on this site...you will end up putting Nirvana or the Sex Pistols. Stop it!!!!!!!!!!!!! But in stead, put real prog bands ( that may not be very important or knowen) like The David Cross Band, Pez ( from Argentina), the Trey Gunn solo project or Giles & McDonald ...( Yes I am a King Crimson fan). But my point is, stop trying to get non prog bands in this site just because their songs are long or they are good at their instruments...well thats what I think.

"Vienna" and "Rage" were Ultravox's 4th and 5th albums. I find the former much stronger overall than the latter.

Before Midge Ure came on board for Vienna, the vocalist/lyricist was John Foxx, and the band was much more experimental musically and lyrically. (More interesting too, for me.)

The first three are all worth the dosh (there is a good compilation, too, called "Three Into One"), but I especially recommend the 1977 debut "Ultravox!"

Produced by experimental wunderkind Brian Eno, it is very edgy/futuristic/dystopian, and the best, most logical place to start with the band, IMO.

I think that "Ultravox!" was the best album the band ever made -- essential, cutting-edge "new wave" music.Cool

Love the violin on "The Wild, the Beautiful and the Damned" -- a killer tune!Big smile

"And, has thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!'
He chortled in his joy.

O.M.D. / Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark , yes I know they are a Synth band but I believe they have Prog Elements listen to Joan of Arc (Maid of Orleans) includes Mellotrons etc that is their Biggest Prog Moment in my view.

I like their album 'Architechture & Morality' It has a very strange atmosphere; creepy but also very melancholic. Joan of Arc is a classic 'new romantic' hit as was Souvinir which I think is the best track they ever recorded.

Japan and Talk Talk were probably my favourite 'new romantic' bands, although Talk Talk were in a slightly different league to most of those artists.

Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

Scorpions - Lonesome Crow.Their 1st album is very good overall. It's hardly recognizable from what they did subsequently....Honest!

Do 'The Stanley' otherwise I'll thrash you with some rhubarb.

I consider Malmsteen close to prog for his baroque style...

I like them both. Japan with Tin Drum, Talk Talk with many albums.

Thanks for the people who gave me the Ultravox tips.

My opinion: what I like about this site is that a lot of progfans are so openminded. It's not prog only, and I think that is a very good thing: a healthy progressive attitude!

Ultravox Very good 80's synth pop, I recommend Vienna

Toto Great group with fantastic musicians, but in my opinion they can be considered AOR

Manowar

Scorpions their first album can be considered prog, for the rest see Toto

East of Eden Surely they're prog, think Bela Bartok meets Indian Ragas and Folk...
