Somehow I get the impression most of the people listening to progressive music (and posting to this forum) are male.  Is this true?  Is prog a 'guy thing'?  If it is I have no idea why.

Thoughts???

It is male orientated..hence why threre are a number of prog bands with attractive female lead singers

My first girlfriend had a large collection of prog LP's. And another liked some prog I played for her. But sadly, we proglovers are male at least 95%...

It's still an interesting question. I don't have an explanation. There are without a doubt women around who are die hard progfans, but they are certainly not a majority. Not much Gentle Giant-babes, for instance. There are more women around who like a more "progrock-lite" kind of music, like late period Genesis or Camel. But why? I don't know either.

I know a girl who really likes Van der Graaf Generator. The only thing is: she doesn't like Peter Hammill on it  .

I don't know, I think it's a pity that there are not many girls who like progrock. It's not a problem, but sometimes it's just a pity. Nothing more, nothing less.
