Now don`t get me wrong I like them but they are just typical power metal bands, not much to do with prog.

Haven't heard much Angra, but I definitely agree with Rhaspody (and for that matter, Nightwish).
That said, countless people have started threads among these lines and those bands are still here. |

I think Angra should be here, but agree that Nightwish and Rhapsody don't belong.

Angra is straight power metal as well (minimal proggy tendencies in a few songs).

I`ve
got Angra`s "Temple Of The Shadow" album and I think it`s great but not
prog! What prog elements can you find in their music. Choir? Give me a
break even garage black metal bands use choirs and it doesn`t make them
prog. Orchestra? It`s the same - it`s been done a thousand times before
better and more interesting. Acoustical parts? Don`t think so. So what
makes them prog.Their riffs are power metal standard and the percussion
is horrible! Remove them!

Being
a member for 4 days doesn`t mean I started to listen prog music 4 days
ago. I know Prog Archives for quite some time and I`ve watched your
discussions on forum as a guest. And I decided to join you four days
ago.
How long do I have to be a member to SUGGEST (not demand!) adding/removing a band? Two and a half month like you? Is that enough? |

If you watched the forum for some time, you should have realized that bands are hardly ever removed from the archives. You have to live with the fact that other people might have other definitions of what is prog. I'm happy when a band that I like is included - if a band which I don't like is included, it really doesn't bother me much.

Look at it this way: you meet a guy who listens to Angra, Rhapsody,
Nightwish and Therion. And now he is calling himself a progger becasue
he saw those bands on this site. I`ve seen people like that and they
had no idea who Genesis, KC, Yes or even DT is! Thats why i want these
band removed.

Bands that you want to be removed have a slim to non chance of actually being removed and it's pointless to make thread about it. And how long you have been here doesn't mean much to me,it's that you just got here and instead of getting to know some pretty cool people on this forum demand that a band be removed because you don't think they are prog. And if you don't like power metal being on this site you have problems because there are ALOT of power metal bands in the archives. |

Did you notice how the ratings for those bands are? Have a look at the top 100 prog metal albums: http://www.progarchives.com/top-prog-albums.asp?style_id=19& amp;album_type=1 The best Nightwish album is at position 91. Rhapsody is at position 51. If someone finds this website through those bands, he'll soon discover that most people here think more highly of other bands and other genres (in terms of progressiveness).

Progtologist- I like power metal but I realize that not that I like is
prog. I just don`t think they are prog that`s all. You want to keep
them ? OK. Why are you so agressive? Can`t you understand I have a different point of view on what is and what isn`t prog?

You should not demand that a band be removed from the archives just because you can't see how it is progressive. Why don't you write a review for Nightwish - Once? You can explain in all length why you don't think it is prog. If only people would write as many reviews as they write posts ... (I'm including myself here). Edited by MikeEnRegalia |

Don't know Angra, so can't comment, but I'm quite comfortable with Rhapsody being here. Certainly not just a "power metal band". The Progtologist is right though, why spend so much time and energy trying to get bands removed?

They just did an U.S. tour - I don't know what you mean by "the only time they tried to play live". |
