I saw this in the shop. Three cd's of symphoci rockj, so it says. And yeah, here and there they were right. But some strange choices. What were the reasons making this playlist?
Two times Styx, a pop song from IQ and what is Toto doing there?

A very odd selection. Give me three discs to make an introductory compilation of sympho and I could do FAR better. Chuck in something Italian for starters!

If you open "Oor's Eerste Nederlandse Popencyclopedie 2000 12e editie" and if you look for "Symfonische rock", then you will find Toto, Electric Light Orchestra and 10CC. There probably are some Dutch music journalists who believe it is that way.

There were about ten of those albums in the shop.

I say so go ahead, become rich and think of me and this moment where your fame and glory begun.

I think the person who created this should have visited the top 100 at this site. He would have done a better job perhaps. (Where is Pink Floyd???)

Try to see it more positively. These albums are compiled with the idea of selling them in mind (duh), and not to prog-lovers. In that sense, I am please to see several high-quality tracks here that the wider pop/rock audience probably does not know, such as:

Genesis - Firth Of Fifth (9:34), Marillion - Script For A Jester's Tear (8:39), Camel - Ice (10:13), Kayak - Merlin (7:19), and Uriah Heep - July Morning (10:34)

Yes, it could be worse. And with Kayak I started out with a hitsingle (Seagull) and so got into Merlin. And with Genesis I started out with a hitsingle Abacab, and so got to Genesis Live. With Yes I started out with Owner Of A Lonely Heart, and except for 90125  I tried to listen to The Yes Album as well. Step by step I discovered that progressive rock was a true goldmine for me.
