Topic: If I made music.... Posted: April 28 2005 at 23:52 |
I hope to have a CD out next year, so I'm taking a consumer poll here, so to speak.
For these options, assume that you can hear 30 second samples of at least three or four songs online.

It really depends on what kind of music you aspire to put out (what type of prog, since I'll assume it's that type).

Actually, I'll find out for sure by the end of next week. My school has
a special program for independent projects for upcoming seniors (i
can't believe i'm going to be a senior) and if they accept my proposal,
then they give me the money to do to and i'm obligated to come through.
Obviously, on such a project, such an obligation would be a pleasure!
Of course, after I make the master, I have to pay out myself to have
the CDs produced, but no sweat.... I'm planning on it being a
fusion/electronica/prog thing... in other words, i'm leaving it pretty
open ended at this point. Whatever I plan on writing, I want to be
original, and not sound like just another fill-in-the-blank.

I don't know if I'll buy it with 30 seconds samplers, but surely would love to listen one or two tracks, if those are good, I'll buy it as any good album.

haha, sorry, let me clarify.
it'd be like iTunes or one of those services does: you can listen to 30
seconds of any song for free, but to download the entire song, you have
to pay a buck. or, i i went the buy-the-whole-CD-at-once route, then
I'd put one entire song off of the CD on my website for anybody to
download free.

Why not just make the songs 30 seconds long?

I should be able to sell my CDs at... oh... $8 and still turn a decent profit. Not a bad price, eh?

Until I have my own band, I don't think I'll be appearing on vary many stages!

As with any music anybody creates/writes, I'll get it if I think it's good and I like it.
