OK, the fact that you can't categorize Primus, and they've made their own inventive and greatly prog-influenced type of music in my eyes makes them progressive.  What do you guys think?  This will be the end all discussion of Primus being prog or not.

The only Primus album I have  heard is Pork Soda and it's not very proggy.

Then listen to Antipop or Tales from the Punchbowl ... I'm not sure if they're really prog, but they're definitely better candidates than Pork Soda.

I am sort of on the fence about this Retrovertigo.I like Primus alot and sometimes think they are very proggy, but they are so hard to categorize(which isn't a bad thing).

BTW-your sig picture makes me feel queasy if I look at it longer than a few seconds

No ... it's been added to the ever growing list of albums that I should check out - along with this, which Trouserpress also seems to like:

Colonel Claypool's Bucket Of Bernie Brains - The Big Eyeball In The Sky

BTW: I love Sailing the Seas of Cheese. Great music and great humor!

The more and more I listen Ive decided they are prog. Heck even a person who doesnt know the band at all I know thought they were listening to King Crimson when I played the first track from Tales from The Punchbowl (Professor Nutbutter's House Of Treats). All of thier music is extremely complex, lyrically they are like nusery cryme Genesis. A great deal of their songs contain both tricky and shifting time signatures. The even have the occaisonal over the top pointless instrumental (wounded knee on pork soda for example) thats at least prog as queen.
