But according to some they are not naked, though I'm sure they where born naked, they never where naked again after that.

It should at least be overdressed IMO.

Yes, THAT'S IT! Metallica are NOT NAKED, but still kind of UNDERDRESSED!
Therefore, they should not be added to the Prog Archives.

I've heard it said that ...And Justice for All is the best prog-metal album, but the line's got to be drawn somewhere. Sure there are interludes in most of their earlier songs, but it doesn't really make it prog. If you count Metallica as prog then you've got to count pretty much every other real metal band as prog.

It's only knock and knowall, but I like it...

I might consider Metallica's induction if they can create a better album than Crest of a Knave.

What does Metallica have to do with prog??? These guys are better off driving trucks from Alabama to Georgia than to play music. When I learn that somebody listens to Metallica, this person ceases to exist for me. He might as well listen to Eminem or country.
What a shame even to bring up this question! Prog listeners are supposed to be above Wal-Mart type of music!!

Listen
Metallica are one of my favorite bands, actually the first band I started to really follow when I was about 12 years, and I have the utmost respect and admiration for them. But c'mon, they are a pure metal band - they are not prog and cannot be added to this site. I think there is a misconception here. Prog music does not mean good music - There is good prog and there is bad prog, just like any other music genre. So the fact that I am saying that Metallica are not prog I am not saying they are not a good band. And likewise, when a band is classified as prog, it does not mean that it is a good band. We are here to discuss prog, and although Metallica is one of my favorite bands, it shouldn't be discussed here in a prog site.
Cheers
