@ Cetrif1ed....The cover actually represents sound waves and using ripples was the best way they could think of doing it. @ Ben2112...I believe it was actually Stoem Thorgeson who had the Idea of the baboons arse! @ Gdub...Flaming is not on Meddle @ cert again...I like Seamus too! |

I have mixed up feelings about this. For a long time I thought this is the best PINK FLOYD cover, an abstract wall of forms and colours. They I noticed the reality too. It's a great idea, but somehow it dissapointed me! Very difficult to explain why! Perhaps the association of close-up from some guy's earwax... "Echoes" is a fine song, but the doggy tune made me rip my pants. By the way, there's a much greater picture in the inner sleeve of LP! |

Sorry Logos, my humour might have been a tad left field back there.
Blacksword took the ball and ran with it however. |

Got me stumped there, sigod! It might be a prog horse...Basically it could be anything you like. I think Waters & Co wanted you to interpret as you see fit.. |

Meddle remains my fave Floyd album and I'm so glad they documented that
time in the Pompeii Video/DVD. I'm very happy with most of the album
but even I acknowledge that 'Seamus' is not er...very good.
I think that most people might regard 'Echoes' as Floyd classic and I'd love to see the guys (in whatever line-up) play that baby again but I'm not holding my breath! As for album covers, has anybody got any idea what THIS is???? I thought it might have been a cow but the head and the tail are at the wrong ends. |

It is a human ear - I once saw an interview where they showed a sequence of pictures of the making of the Meddle sleeve - and you saw the guy whose ear it was. The picture represents Echoes, to the best of my knowledge - an aural depiction of the ocean. I must be alone in actually liking "Seamus"... I don't think the album has a single weak point! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v206/Certif1ed/DSCF0030.jp g (for sale on eBay... get it while it's there... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=475 0794421&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1 ) Edited by Certif1ed |

Meddle was their first 'good' album IMO.. There are numerous gems on there, apart from Echoes. I love 'Fearless' & 'A pillow of Winds' The cover has never made any impression on me at all. Edited by Blacksword |

Meddle is a mixed bag. Echoes is great and One of These Days..as well as Flaming are very good as well. Then the rest of it is poo. Fortunately Echoes is one side length long making it an essential Floyd lp to own. The cover?....Meh!! Edited by gdub411 |

I don't know, the album cover is soo bad, I think a baboon's anus would have looked much better! |

Just be thankful the band didn't get their way with this album. If I recall from Nicolas Shaffner's book "A Saucerful Of Secrets: The Pink Floyd Odyssey", the band wanted a closeup shot of a baboon's anus, which was thankfully vetoed by the Powers That Be.
