how many of you have partaken of a dance with la fee verte (the green fairy), that is , how many drink or have drunk absinthe?   it was definitely an experience ill always remember, the first time, that is...subsequent trials have not yielded as much of an effect from the thujone(rosewood active chemical)...it is still illegal here in the states to import so it is very expensive but you can get it....over there across the pond you guys just recently lifted the ban most places(even the swiss are now allowing their most famous of absinthe's to resume reproduction)...i was just wondering if this wondrous elixir had caught fire yet or if it was old hat by now? anyway also be sure to check out my post "please look at this" thanks bye!

Haven't tried it yet...I bought a friend a bottle of it for Christmas, but that's as close as I came. I figure when the time is right, it'll happen (maybe when I'm a little more fortified with cash).

absinthe is a liqueur made with anise wormwood and some other mountain herbs...it is usually around 140 proof and contains a mild hallucinoginic derivative of the wormwood

Yes, the experience was certainly "memorable". I'd be willing to give it ago again, but hopefully it'll be better (I've got depression problems already without complicating things with wormwood).

It's legal here in New Zealand, but the REAL TRUE Absinthe (made in Switzerland?) is VERY expensive. The stuff's so volatile you could put it on a map and call it the Balkans.
And Jesus said unto John, "come forth and receive eternal life..."
Unfortunately, John came fifth and was stuck with a toaster.

It got banned in France and most Northern Europe around the start of the 20th century! It was driving too many people crazy!

Still legal in Spain! Strong stuff!!! Tastes like Pastis but much stronger!

I suppose you haven't read my thread? You can read about the effects here:

http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=4658&a mp;PN=5

I have half a bottle left right now (of the famous "Pernod" brand) and I think I'll have some this very night.

BTW: I think I like pastis (the "fake" stuff) better.

There's not much really pleasant about Absinthe. If you like Pernod, you may like it. Its strong!!!.It  Induces ludicrous behaviour, and hallucinations - if you drink enough.

In our local Off License (Liquor Store) you can buy Absinthe which is 75% proof. Usually the stuff you can buy off the shelf in the UK is about 40% - same as Whiskey.

Apparently in Prague you can buy different grades of Absinthe. There is a very dark brew which is essentially poison. A group of friends tried this a few years back and apparently all threw up violently shortly after one small glass. So if you're in Prague dont try that sh!t, unless you enjoy projectile vommiting.

Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

Can buy it Canada no problem, at most decent liquor stores.

Also had it for 10$/ shot at a bar celebrating. WIth the melted sugar and all. Kind of like zambuca or ouzo on steroids
Marmalade...I like marmalade.
