I was an active "hippie" toward the latter part of the "flower power/psychedelia" era: from about 1969 to 1974. And, of course, I witnessed the beginning of that era.
How did it effect me? Well...do you have about 10 hours? 

It would be impossible to explain in a few words, since the effect was essentially on every level: physical, psychological, emotional, spiritual, intellectual, etc. I would need a lengthy post on each of these areas just to get at some of the basics.
If I had to make just one comment, I would say that, overall, it gave me an understanding of and sense of people: of human nature, foibles, virtues, limits, causes, interpersonal interaction, etc. That "sense of people" would be one of the things that went on to "shape" who I became as an adult. (And note that this was all long before I became a person of faith.)
I will add more as I see what others have to say.
And although this topic has arisen before, it has been some time, so it is a good, timely topic for discussion.
