First for me was Yes - Highlights, The very best of Yes. Thats not really much of an album though... my first official prog albums were the two I bought at Future Shop, for a two cd special, I got "Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes From A Memory" By Dream Theater, and "Close To The Edge (Special Edition)" By Yes. I loved Scenes and thats what I figured all prog was going to be like, silly ignorant me, so when I popped in Close to the Edge and listened to the first minute, I was like... this is pretty boring.... but about 3 weeks later I stopped being arrogant, listened to it and I was like "Holy sh*t! This is insane!" And I have loved that album with all my heart since.

When I was 11 I bought Hamburger Concerto, a friend's elder brother had Moving Waves and they had two singles Sylivia & Hocus Pocus playing regularly on Radio 1, so with pocket money I paid my dues to prog.
Thinking about it now I'm quite proud of myself (insert smug git smiley here!)

Rush - Permanent Waves (like an earlier poster heard Spirit of Radio on the radio and was completely sold)
that was closely followed by listening to all my brother's Kansas
albums, Yes' Drama and Going for the One, the start of a very long,
strange trip....

Genesis - Seconds out, when I was 13. I remember saving up my pennies to buy the LP. cost me four pounds 25p, seemed like the hugest amount of money then!!!

WOW! You only discovered this album 18 months ago? I've had a thirty two year love affair with this album having first heard it in 1973. Despite the constant airplay the title track has received over the years I've never gotten sick of this album. The only gripe I have with it is that it is such a poor recording. BTW. My first prog album was probably "Fragile."

It depends... With what album i started to like prog or wich was mi first prog album?
The first prog album i ever had was Peter Gabriel's 'So', wich i liked
a lot. But i became a real fan with 'foxtrot', by Genesis. My
influences are from my older sister, wich is a Genesis fan, and my brother,
wich is a pink floyd fan (so as i  )

My first Prog album?
Way out of place, since I'm only 14 yr.old!
But it was DARK SIDE OF THE MOON, by the PINK FLOYD, some years ago
Now I own aproxemately 80 Prog CD´s.
And I discovered that GENTLE GIANT it's truly the best within the best

Pink Floyd's The Final Cut. My dad was playing it. I thought all prog rock sounded as rich as the opening track 'The Post War Dream' How wrong I was. Still, it developed who I am today (a supreme being)

The first prog album I've listened, about 6 years ago, when I hadn't known yet that it was prog was Fragile, A Trick Of The Tail or The Wall (I don't remember exactly which if them).
But the first album that really delighted and amazed me, 3 years later, was Nursery Cryme.
