Truth or dare, you illegal downloader

Of almost every album of every artists you can illegal download something nowadays. Or get copies through friend or other.
Before going further let me say that I am against illegal downloading. I think websites like this one, is the right answer against illegal downloads and protect the artists. Progmusic is not something you hear on the radio, but this website with its mp3 files can give you an idea of the different music if you like it.

Who has the guts to admit he has downloaded or copied something illegally, but feels guilty and thinks he should buy the album, since he likes the album soo much? And what artist?

Two of my friends and myself have a communal album collection, so ill often copy some of thier albums and let them copy mine. But I will buy those albums when the three of us part ways.

I bought LDF's Forse Le Lucciole Non Si Amano Piu within 2 weeks of downloading the whole album ... and my CD didn't even have the bonus track New York (which the downloaded version did!)

As for the truly awful one that I'm glad I head before buying (and now never will buy) ... it's Can's Tago Mago ...

I really do intend to buy all the good ones ... I've got more than 3000 originals already ...

If you buy it in a second hand store, you get much more than what you can download in eMule. You get better sound quality, and something you can put in your shelf ...

Great to read all these emotions.
The reason for this topic was to see how people, who like prog and are IMO respecting most of the times the artist more than for example the people who like some boyband, would react.
It is a difficult subject and the respect for the artists sometimes fights with the ease to get a copy.

No, I am not. It is funny to read your first thought. The RIAA apparently has done a good job, creating fear with the millions of people having copies or downloads. The channce to get hit by a car is probably more than 100 times higher then to get a subpoena from the RIAA.

You're quit wrong, The Protologist. I am not above it all and I do not trust anyone stating he has never received a copy or downloaded something.
In fact I have recieved copies from Spock's Beard's Snow, of which I am glad I did recieve a copy, because the music did not impress me at all and the CD would probably me somewhere hidden in my closet.
On the other hand I have downloaded songs from The Mars Volta, as a tip from a friend, which I like very much and for which I feel somewaht guilty. Secondly I received a copy of Dream Theaters SFAM, when I did not know DT yet. Although I feel I should buy the album I still have and listened to this copy. Sadly the last time I saw the album my curiosity for Octavarium won.

At the end everybody knows its own situation.
