I recommend you to check Edison's Children and Days Between Stations. Both produce melancholic and haunting prog in the way I like!

I know these albums (a couple because they were suggested in this thread), I'll try and check out the rest. I'm still going through the music in this thread...it's taking awhile. ![]() |

You definitely need to check out Electric Orange - Krautrock From Hell. Strong Sailor vibe due to the jangly nature of the rhythm section and flügel organ. Start out with the track Necronomicon (i believe it's in two part on youtube but am on the phone so no links).
Setna - Guérison. I have recommended this 2013 release all day, so you get it too. Smooth, melodic and spacious Zeuhl. |

I'm familiar with those albums. I was specifically talking about the 'post' part of E/PM; often I evaluate artists who could just be easily described as 'post-metal' as much as 'post-rock'. Basically, I'm not looking for anything that could be described as 'post rock', 'math rock' or 'post metal' from 2010-2014.

Thanks again everyone for the recs. I already know Sufjan Stevens, Druckfarben, Kayo Dot and Birds And Buildings. I only knew Elephant9 from their Atlantis album but that vid posted was really great. The Ske album was also really good. I thought Wobbler were just cliche retro-prog stuff but that one track posted caught my attention. What little of Dreadnaught I had heard didn't do much for me; I really liked their newest EP however. I didn't enjoy Deluge Grander as much as I enjoy Birds And Buildings.
Thanks again and keep the suggestions coming. My only problem is finding time to listen to all this stuff. ![]() Edited by zravkapt - July 19 2014 at 08:30 |

Birds and Buildings and Deluge Grander are worth checking out. Both are on the Emkog label and both inlcude Dan Britton on keyboards. Musically B&B is more fast instrumental passages and towards jazz while DG is modern symphonic and loads of Mellotron. All Good.

If didn't already know about it, Coyote by Kayo Dot doesn't have their common metal influence in it but still has their fantastic composition and use of dissonance in a real good way.

Ok. First of all PA's best kept secret, Dreadnaught, is a band I've been
raving about for so long. You wanted stuff from the past five years so
their last EP is qualified but their two last albums are both
masterpieces. This EP is also fantastic but I think it's hard to see the magic at first listen.
http://dreadnaughtmusic.bandcamp.com/album/have-a-drink-with-dreadnaught And from their 2001 album: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hC3dsxbfGcI http://dreadnaughtmusic.bandcamp.com/track/derby-days Another recommendation for now is Druckfarben http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Js1JUFTKT88 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JUpIsldiIqI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JnxjLOOMSYY ![]() |

Yes the Ske album is great. I happen to know all those suggestions David except Goat which was new to me. Great stuff. I liked the Three Monks sample and the Anna Von Hausswolff album. |
