I didn't even know that Animals was 'rated'. I thought this was on every Floyd fans 1970's second best list.

I immediately found Animals a hit. To me, it sounds like the natural progression from Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here in terms of quality, and an instinctual nod towards the growing popularity of Punk.

You've summed up the appeal of prog for many. Those 'difficult' albums (which basically means the ones that challenge you) are the ones that really stick long term.

Indeed Dogs is the best track on the album, but Sheep is a great track too, though. And Pigs was the one that took me longer to apreciate, and the one I like least on the album (of the 3 main songs, that is), but it is still a very good song.

I honestly find Pigs WAY too repetitive and drawn out (from a guy who loves Bitches Brew) and Sheep to be...ok. Dogs is a great track, though.

I find this post to be incredibly boring. Dark Side is a masterpiece regardless of what you think.

I agree.
Just add Meddle to Animals and Obscured By Clouds and that is that

All I like is prog related bands beginning late 60's/early 70's. Their music from 1968 - 83 has the composition and sound which will never be beaten. Perfect blend of jazz, classical, folk and rock.

You  should change the title to "The wall is overrated"

Animals is brilliant, great lyrics with a "deep meaning" and great instrumentals

Aye, but that was just a coincidence I think....
I certainly didn't think they would have a release with such an awesome title.....thus my surprise when I googled it....
It's a bit like a maiden aunt googeling "Camel-toe" on a suggestion from a mischievous nephew......

You learn something every day - Don't judge a CD/LP by it's title - you may not get what you think - wonder how many more pop crap titles would lure you into thinking it contained 30 minute + tracks of astounding complexity and virtuosity.....
