I think most of us could do without the 'love stories' in all the various Trek shows but imo DS9 had the most interesting ongoing arcs with the wormhole, the Dominion, Odo and the Changelings, and the beings in the wormhole.
There was nothing quite like that in TNG , Voyager or Enterprise. |
Agreed Doc. DS9 was really great. And fans of DS9 should really make sure to check out Babylon 5. Great story arcs and memborable characters...maybe even a little better than DS9. Provided you make it through the first season. The first season of B5 was a bit rough but man did it they ever kick butt from season 2 onward. |
Babylon 5 was a great sci-fi series......depth of characters and plots. It also had a more 'realistic' and 'gritty' feel than many other sci-fi series.
I think all the Trek shows are worth watching and of course the original will always be loved simply because it was the first and created the iconic characters but of the later ones DS9 had a much better storyline.

Without a doubt I voted for the first original series Captain James T. Kirk (William Shatner) , love him, loved him in Boston Legal too. Plus he released a prog track too: From Cleopatra Records comes the Official Video for Ponder The Mystery from the Album of the same name with William Shatner and Billy Sherwood.

Voted for both which might be a cop out but I think the ensemble cast is stronger in the original but the stories and themes are deeper in TNG

I vastly prefer the original series. You can't beat the Freudian id-ego-superego of McCoy, Kirk and Spock.

I voted for TNG. When TNG first came out, I thought, how could they bring back Star Trek with a whole new cast? I thought I wouldn't like it. Turns out TNG is my favorite Star Trek of them all!

DS9 was a great series.....and it had more depth than all the others regarding story and character development.

Classic, especially William "Shakespeare" Shatner's overblown acting and the miniskirts!

The classic series by far my favourite, with all the characteristics flaws and limitations of that times...

I enjoyed both......but I've always had a soft spot for the original cast and show even though the storytelling was more involved in TNG with more time to develop ongoing arcs.

I view The Original Series more like a comedy show, with action moments.Of course the very attractive women that appear in every episode is a really nice bonus!

I have to go with both. I grew up on classic reruns. But TNG came out when I was in college, so I have fond memories of that one, too. The first season had more than a few cheesy moments, but so did the old one.
