Focus Hamburger Concerto
When he rides, my fears subside.
For darkness turns once more to light.
Through the skies, his white horse flies.
To find a land beyond the night.

Well, I like all of the titles on here (except for the Shub-Niggrath one which I haven’t heard) in one way or another. `Still Life’ is probably the VdGG I come closest to liking all the way through – but still not quite there yet. Wilson’s `Grace For Drowning’ is superb, and `Hamburger Concerto’ completes that `holy trinity’ of terrific Focus albums that ran from `Moving Waves’ and `Focus 3’ before it.

But my vote will go for the most laid-back, dreamy chill-out of `Future Days’. A friend was in the car recently and she thought it was a `really weird Reggae album’!

But I used to play Anathema’s `Alternative 4' so many years ago. I came to them during their metal period in the first place, and when this album showed up, I was shocked at how melodic this was, how proggy it was, and most of all, how good Vincent's clean voice was! They'd clearly been overdosing on Pink Floyd's `The Wall', and it's a terrific album. Lovely violin from the guy from My Dying Bride if I recall too.

It's between Shub and Wilson but I gotta go with that dark beast from France.
