The problem is that only a small amount of people is able to remember and distinct all these caracters. I've read Biblo the Hobbit two or three times when I was a teenager, I've seen the first movie and... I just can't tell one apart from another! So, I will vote Bombur, because his name makes me think of Mötörhead.

After we finish this Harry Potter book, I'm going to start reading the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings stuff to my daughter. I'll get back to you after a while. We've also been reading some Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy too, on the side (I know this Douglas Adams stuff almost by heart... but the Hobbit stuff is waaay too far in my past to remember at the moment). Reading out loud to a captive audience is fun.

Nothing strikes up controversy like arguing which dwarf is the best! This is something I know we are all strongly opinionated about, so I ask that you be considerate and not hurt any one's feelings. Obviously they are all fully fleshed characters and completely distinguishable from each other. Everyone knows that personality is 90% cool beards
