Only seen three of these, Pan's Labyrinth (which I didn't like), Imaginarium (it was decent), and City Of God(shocking and amazing).
I really want to see Aguirre, The Hunted, Seventh Seal, Pink Flamingos, Amelie, and Medea.

I've only seen City Of God and Pan's Labyrinth from this selection. I liked them both, but I'll give the nod to PL.

I just now voted for Aguirre too -- superb film. I also haven't seen all of them.

Although Lars von Trier is one of my favourite directors, I still haven't seen that. I think my favourite of his is The Element of Crime ( Forbrydelsens element).

I haven’t seen all of them, but Aguirre, der Zorn Gottes certainly deserves a vote. In my opinion, it’s Herzog’s best movie (which says a lot), and Klaus Kinski has never been better.

It's strange that no-one voted for 'Rope'. I consider this as my second Hitchcock's favourite movie after 'Vertigo'.
Btw, it's nice to see 'Les Rivières Pourpres' in the list. I loved this film as a kid and still believe it's a quite decent mystery/thriller feature.

Heh I completely forgot about my poll - I blame the snaps...
Glad to see Ingmar Bergman getting some love - like I said earlier, it puzzled me to see him without any mentions.
Anyways, I forgot to vote too - so I am going for Lars Von Trier's best work outside of his tv series 'Riget', Medea. A movie based on the Danish writer Steen Steensen Blicker's famous short story 'Hosekræmmeren'. It's a cruel and dark movie, but there's a lot beauty there too. My dad participated in the making of it, and I remember him being away from home for months at a time - shooting in the more desolate parts of Jutland. I think he's still proud of that movie - as is Lars. Great great movie.

I'll vote for Det sjunde inseglet, but I also like The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, Pan's Labyrinth and Amélie.

Nice to see Pan's Labyrinth getting some love. Wonderful movie where surreal fairytale meets the reality of the Spanish civil war. I find it utterly beautiful - the way it was directed, shot and all the weird costumes and bizarre frightening characters that Del Torro dreamed up all by himself.

I've only seen a couple on this list but Pan's Labyrinth was my favorite of the ones I did. City Of God ain't too bad either.

Pan's Labyrinth Haven't seen all of these but its one of my favourite films. I love the mix of fantasy and reality. And the way that the real monsters are the real ones. It's a classic.

Love The Mission. Joffé and Morricone teaming up could never go wrong.
This one also captures Robert de Niro in one of his strongest roles ever, and to think most people tend to overlook it. Such a shame. The scenes where he is slowly coming to terms with the act of having killed his own brother, are just brutal and beautiful all at once. I've never seen De Niro show the same array of emotions - he is exhilarated, lost, happy, sad and in deep mourning - and he manages to portray all of these feelings in a single scene. Sheer genius. Jeremy Irons isn't half bad as the missionary priest either  |
