 Topic: Do you know the album "Queen II"?

Queen and Queen II blew my mind when I heard them at the age of 13 ... a whopping 19 years ago ... Queen II in particular is an outstanding progressive experience ... I particularly worship Freddie's Side Black

pretty good album, I like A Night At The Opera better mind you. Oh, and its not progressive.

Yes, I know it and I love it - but it's not progressive. Yet, it's evidently prog related, since most of the tracks are linked to each other in a sort of epic structure. By the way, I love 'Some Day One Day', one of the best ballads/semi-ballads ever written by Brian May -- it sounds like a mixture of "Stand Up"-era Jethro Tull and "Abbey Road"-era Beatles.

Yes, it's actually my favourite Queen album of all, and is progressive enough by itself, though all their early albums are progressive to these ears, to justify their inclusion.

You don't have to agree with me here - I just want to promote Queen II for all the people who say that Queen didn't make a progressive album and base their opinion on songs like Bohemian Rhapsody or We Are the Champions.

A mate lent it me at school when I was 17...I'm now 37, so the memory of it is rather distant I'm afraid...not a big Queen fan of any era though Mike, sorry...

To me, this particular album is prog, the way the second side flows, and the music is definitely "adventurous" as put in the definition of Art Rock on the Archives. It contains a slight concept with the White/Black Queen, et.al. Just go to Amazon.com and read the many good reviews.

If it's prog or not is a tricky question - it's not about whether it's similar to Selling England, or Octopus, or even CttE ... we have to compare it with other Art Rock albums. That means stuff like Kansas: Leftoverture, Supertramp albums, or even Uriah Heep ... I continue to mean it : It's progressive by that definition.
