Free Hand is my second worst GG album IMO just above the Missing Piece, I like VdgG too, but Hammil reminds me of Uncle Fester all the time.

Free Hand is far, far from a 1 star review IMHO.

1199 ratings on PA coming to a 4.28.......for anyone to give it 1 star is a bit absurd imho but then there are a lot of absurd people around.

Two random guys agreed to shake hands. Just Because. They felt like it, you know. It was an agreement of sorts...a random agreement.

I'd probably rate it 2 stars if I were to review it. The greatness of the giant is to be found on earlier albums.

I wouldn't say it is exactly a 1 star album, because it wasn't that bad. However, I was disappointed when I first heard it and it's a pretty overrated album

^ Agreed. Free Hand is far from my favorite GG album, but as much as I dislike Giant for a Day I wouldn't give it 1 star.

There's nothing wrong with giving Free Hand 1 star. In my opinion, it'd be even more wrong if you bumped up the rating just because of its general acclaim in the prog community. If you think it's bad, say it's bad.

I would not rate any GG album 1 *
not even Giant for a Day which is their weakest effort IMO.

Same goes for the demo tracks added on the bonus cds to marillion,s' albums or the unearthed kevin gilbert demos. I think that if an album is bad, which is the case of free hand, even the best audio quality will not help improving things.

Totally agree, except with Free hand being a bad album, which it obviously isn't. Good try though.

Omg I'm gone for 4 months and this is what I miss? Shame on me. This poll is definately the most outrageous I've come across for somebody being lambasted by posting a terrible review. I'm surprised Mr. Tubes is getting so much attention, but I guess if it effects the poll rating system of the album I guess admin and site managers have to jump in. I know that this is nothing short of an attention grab. I gotta give Tubby tubes credit for getting quite a lot of us riled up over a couple of reviews. I picture you, Mr. Tubes, as the Montgomery Burns type just biding your time while folding and dangling your hands in the steeple position. This is hilarious!!! Welcome back me!!!

Come over & bring Dean with you to The Flower Kings Appreciation Thread, from time to time.  We could use some more input from the UK. Our resident Brits have been otherwise disposed chasing around young ladies & playing rock star. The USA has had to carry most of the heavy lifting lately.
