This is a fine resource
It gives you some tutorials and stuff. This should probably be posted in "Tech Talk", but that's okay. I only started playing bass like 2 months ago, though it can fairly easy to me since I already played guitar. I think when starting out you should try working on strengthening your arms in order to be able to perform faster, as well as your fingers (don't be using a pick now! ). Try learning stuff like scales and chord structure for a bit of theory and practice em, that should be a good foundation. Don't be afraid of becoming too attached to your bass, I now I have. You can be just as creative on the bass as you can on the guitar...heck try playing ukulele or mandolin while you're at. I'ma try doing that. |

Check out Jonas Hellborg both as musician on CD and writer of bass guitarist guides - reckoned to have written the definitive guide on slap bass playing. My daughter would tell you listen to Flea of RH Chilli Peppers or Les Claypool with Primus for some ideas/inspiration. I would suggest Jaco Pastorius ( e.g the Jazz Punk compliation) and again Hellborg (e, Octave of the Holy Innocents, Time Is The Enemy'for starters for some excellent 4 string electric and acoustic bass guitar playing).

Try the tab sites e.g. www.guitartabs.cc where you can download a huge number of songs.
