Nice start. . My first prog tune was "Then" by YES from "Yesterdays". Thank god for older cousins, he had a real cool record collection when I only had one or two records. "Then" had such a unique original sound unlike any other music I had heard on the radio or on other records. A few weeks later my cousin played RUSH - 2112, he thought the William Tell overture part was cool, I hated the shreaking vocals. A few years later I saw RUSH in concert and when they played Xanadu, full version, in concert, I was hooked!

Stuff I grew up with (without choice, not all prog)... Floyd, Tull, Queen, Meat Loaf, Rocky Horror, Rodriguez, Mike Batt, and some folk stuff... More prog came naturally later.

I very much dug semi prog's Yes's 90125 offered to an elder sister for her birthday 29 years ago ( and remain still impressed at this album ). I've listened to it in the right order, so you name the first song that's prog to your ears if any, and that's the one.
KCrimson's Islands 23 years ago. Ladies on The Road was the first one, a schoolmate discovered among his parents's old LP's and thought it was crazy and funny (he said it in a well educated South Italian – the country his parents were from – fashion ), but didn't become a prog lover himself.

I think, it was Rush's BU2B last year in metal radio show. After that came their whole discography and it is continuing.
OT: Why I can't vote in polls?

Holy crap, what a place to start! I was already into ELP, Moody Blues, Procol Harum and Focus at that time and barely heard of Genesis, but I know my mind would have been super-blown if I'd heard Supper's Ready then.

Floyd - "Money". It all started for me with the radio, so ... . If asking for "real" prog, then "The Court of the Crimson King", I think.

Nope ... "The Magical Mystery Tour" for the Proto-Prog song ... No ... "Michelle". You can get so lost with those compilations.

The first one I can remember was Liquid Tension Experiment's "Acid Rain" in 2005 (yes, I'm a lightweight).

Iron Butterfly's first album "Heavy" was the probably the first prog or proto-prog album I heard that I recognized as taking a step beyond most of what got played on top 40 radio. One track in particular, Fields of Sun, grabbed my attention like nothing before the first time my older brother played it, so that could be considered my first. Possession, So-Lo, Stamped Ideas and Iron Butterfly Theme were no slouches either.

Mullmuzzler - His Voice was the first prog song I actually listened to.
Yes, I knew Mullmuzzler before Dream Theater

My first one technically would have been something by Rush because my dad was a huge fan of them.
But the first prog song I listened with the actual intent of getting into prog was The Musical Box, and it's been one of my favorites ever since!

My first would be "Glasgow Kiss" by John Petrucci on the G3 dvd. I thought to myself, "My gosh this would be awesome with vocals.."

I remember hearing 'She's So Heavy' by the Beatles when I was too young to know music could be classified into categories. The only music I had heard before that was late 60's early 70's pop and my ears were blown away by this new sound. I'll always consider that my first prog song, it opened my ears to new sounds.
Not long after that I heard Yes's "Your Move/Seen all Good People" and when I got my first record player bought the album and have been a prog head ever since.
