No idea. It isn't a joke as such (in the gag sense) but he was joking. he wasn't being serious. I don't know what it is....it may come to me. I got a headache

I think the best term for it would be a "tongue in cheek statement"

it's also normal for musicians to just run out of steam and ideas as time goes on unless they're really really good.

| I remember the incident Dayvenkirq is referring to. In the context of the thread, Sheavy's "f&%k you" was very funny and it was obvious to all who were following the thread. The admin just happened to pass through and saw it (or maybe it was reported? hmm), and dutifully took action. But it was all cleared up in a matter of minutes. I think it's pretty clear most of the time when it's meant as a joke.
|
Yes I remember the incident. I'm not denying anything you say here. Or denying it was meant as a joke.

Granted, it does take a while on the forum to truly get a "feel" for certain people. I know Sheavy and knew he wouldn't really say that, so I knew it was a joke. So it's a little harder when you're new. Maybe it's not as obvious as I said after all. In your example, though, I'm pretty sure everyone there saw the joke.

I'd call it an "over-the-top reaction meant to be taken as a joke".
|
Perhaps we should start a "Humour Archives" and get these genres nailed down? |
We gonna include tagging too? |
Better had...

Indeed, that's happened to me too. I do recognize members both by "name" and Avatar, but usually I pay more attention to the Avatar (though sometimes it is more by the name). However, when someone changes his Avatar it takes some time to relate it with the name. However, it is even worse when someone changes the Avatar AND the name (I think I remember it happening at least once).

f$5k you is not sarcasm in any country. It may be intended as a joke I do not deny.
