Errrmmm.. Paul, I posted two of your pics on here, both Hayley mistaken as Magenta. This proves that I am a nincompoop. |
I'm not sure we needed any further proof to be honest! The Hayley photos were taken at Karnataka's gig at The Scala in London in December. Was a bit surreal seeing this petite singer dressed in a skimpy Santa outfit, whilst belting out Led Zeppelin's Kashmir! But it was an excellent performance. Just to set the record straight, here's a photo of Magenta's Christina at Danfest 2012.

Seconds (or thirds) on Reto feel more theatrennaisance. Saw them several times in the 80s when they toured the US. Mostly based on classical, Prokoviev, etc. Maybe more Orchestral vs Prog.
Annie Haslam had a very impressive vocal range.
Also + for Sandy Denny, who was also in Fairport Convention with Richard and Linda Thompson. More Folk than Prog... |
Hangdog, Annie does indeed no doubt have amazing octaves her vocals range is amazing, however for me I can only listen to her in small doses (yet in those be blown away) otherwise she starts to feel more theatre to me, that's enough really for me. hug to you

seems to me there's always been an abundance of prog ladies compared to other genres; Sonja Kristina (Curved Air), Annie Haslam (Renaissance), Annette Peacock (Bruford), Judith Rijnveld (Kingfisher Sky) --

thanks, Rushfan -
Hi lucas - I'm starting to make my way through this list and I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate you putting it up.
I already have a new love: Linda Perhacs. I'm really intrigued by her story, too -
more goodies on the way, for sure...
cheers,

OK, I came back into this thread because I'd like to know why I can't post topics in other forums, like the prog lounge. Any mod want to tell me what I need to do to be able get around this error message I get (you do not have permission to post topics...etc)? |
In response to your question, the forums were updated to prevent spammers from filling the pages with unwanted spam threads. Before you can start a thread in any area other than the Newbies area you have to have a certain number of posts. The threshold is either 10 or 25, but I don't recall offhand. Since you are at 11 posts, you may be able to start a thread in the other areas now. If not, than it is probably 25.
