I'll say.

Indeed - whenever I see anyone scaremongering about this upcoming date I point out that the world does not end every December 31st.
And if the Mayans said it means we'll think differently about time, then why does that have to mean The End Of Time?
People are gullible idiots sometimes.

Kick ass lists, dudes! Love seeing Art Blakey, Eno, Penguin Cafe Orchestra, Aphex Twins, L'Isola di niente, Allman Bros., Berlioz, and Soulfly on these lists! Diversity will be the saviour from insanity! Or, perhaps Death Metal should be all we're allowed to take with usEmbarrassed

Embarrassed I haven't posted my own lists yet. Struggling with the "covers" list.

^It's my favorite symphony, although I only have one recording of it. Perhaps surprisingly, I like the second movement best. The orchestration and attention to detail is magnificent.

I love Symphonie Fantastique-i must have about 60 versions of it, my faves being Pierre Monteux-Paris Orchestra-1930 (the only recording with touchings taken down from Berlioz himself to conductor Eduard Colonne-sadly the written copy of this was destroyed in WW2-Monteux had it in his home, and he was part Jewish, so the Nazis did in his home)
Otto Klemperer-Philharmonia Orchestra-1960s
Bruno Walter -NY Philharmonic-1954

Yes (no, not the band). And I could very well pick ten Zappa discs for the desert island and be very happy with my choice.

I'd probably pick his longer albums, mostly, too.

Lather
Sheik YerBouti
Joe's Garage
The Grand Wazoo
Roxy & Elsewhere
One Size Fits All
Make A Jazz Noise Here
Zappa In New York (even though it overlaps with Lather)
Apostophe (') and Over-Nite Sensation (on one CD-R, because they fit) Wink
London Symphony Orchestra
Wazoo
Imaginary Diseases
Waka/Jawaka
Jazz From Hell
YCDTOSA vol. 2 and 5

So I just realized that the world is supposed to end on International Rush Day.  Pretty cool, huh?   That's what I thought this thread was going to be about, actually.

I will (maybe) come up with a list later when I don't have to write and edit things.
