I love Iron Maiden, Queensryche and Mercyful Fate/King Diamond ... also kinda into Blind Guardian, Metallica and Megadeth to a lesser extent ... I am a much bigger fan of prog though ... own 300 plus CDs as opposed to 15-20 metal CDs ... Strangely enough I don't like much of the hybrid prog-metal bands ... Ayreon has been the best so far ... |

Well, I'm into anything from Frank Sinatra to Nile (death metal). The main genres I try to avoid are mainstream pop, r'n'b, MTV rock etc. As for metal: Death Metal - Nile, Gorguts, In Flames, Morbid Angel, Cynic, Immolation etc. Black Metal - Immortal, Susperia, Thyrfing etc. Power Metal - Jag Panzer, Dragonforce, Blind Guardian, Iced Earth etc. I also listen to folk metal, progressive metal, doom, speed/thrash and all. |

I love a lot of metal - the two sub-genres I like most are prog metal (Opeth, DT, Symphony X, Meshuggah, Cynic and many others) and death metal (Cryptopsy, Nile, Suffocation, Death, Immolation, Pessimist, Gorguts, Decapitated, Disgorge, Origin, Decrepit Birth etc.). I've been focusing on the latter lately - absolutely incredible, mindblowing stuff, like riding a sunstorm. I've also gotten to love Iron Maiden recently (finally!!!) and enjoy some doom metal, My Dying Bride, Morgion and Burning Witch being my fav bands. |

Something extreme from 80-90's for nostalgia? Too stressed for such music now though. The happiness of childhood has changed to the unhappiness of the adulthood... SLAYER "Born to be wild"! |

Hello. I am new to this forum. I am not really a prog fan, I don't have anything against it, it's jus tnot my thing. However, I do like Symphony X, Tool, and Pink Floyd if that's any compensation. Anyway I am here to see if there are any prog fans who also like heavy metal. So anyone who likes prog and also likes Heavy Metal (or any variations like Thrash Metal or Death Metal) reply now! Also, please list what heavy metal bands you like. |
