I personally prefer Pain of Salvation - more proggy but with that metal edge. However, I would not question Faith No More's legacy and influence for many. I only really know and like Epic and From Out of Nowhere - a bit too nu-metal at times for me to delve deeper.

Faith No More by a long distance, i think they are really progressive, they push the limits of any genre and no one sounds like them.

I recommend "King Fo a Day.." and "Angel Dust", impressive albums

I prefer POS.
My brother is a huge Faith no More fan. Back in the 90's he would put their records (along with NIN) all day long. I know their songs by heart through unwanted repetition, but I can't stand them.
Two random guys agreed to shake hands. Just Because. They felt like it, you know. It was an agreement of sorts...a random agreement.

I know little of Pain of Salvation, but I really like Faith no More. I think "Angel dust" is a very progressive album, as well as a masterpiece.

Given that I had read lot's of praise for Pain of Salvation on this forum before, I'm really surprised that they are losing to an (arguably) non-prog band. Though I'm afraid to say that I know absolutley nothing from Faith no More, except that I knew their name already. Perhaps I've heard some song, but never knew it was them.

FNM's a stellar band. Angel Dust is a milestone, IMO.

Pain of Salvation
When he rides, my fears subside.
For darkness turns once more to light.
Through the skies, his white horse flies.
To find a land beyond the night.

FNM could be not "prog" in sense of this site, but they are close-minded to prog. the music is very eclectic, with elements of many styles . They could be considered as experimental nu-metal band (actually, they invented nu-metal)

I got King for a Day... just a few days ago, and am loving it. Totally eclectic, maybe even more so than Angel Dust. It covers so many genres. Who could imagine Evidence and Cuckoo for Caca were by the same band, on the same album? LOL

^ Definitely, but I wasn't able to get into 'King For a Day... Fool For A Lifetime', don't know why.
