In Progressive, I really don't like Avant-Prog/RIO, but maybe I just don't understand it, even if I have to say that I appreciate Area and Magma.
In generic Rock/Metal music the only thing I really hate is Black Metal, I generally like extreme Metal but not this genre, but this is only for "classic" Black, I like several things from more melodic/symphonic bands like Dissection or Sacramentum.
Apart from this, there is nothing I don't like a priori.

I try and think of a genre I don't like but I can usually find something apealing in whatever type of music. However! I don't like just about every NWOBHM record I have heard (so far) pointless for me.

If I hear another thumpa thumpa hip hop piece of non musical crap that is rattling my windows, I am going to go death metal on them (also known as postal). Neither one knows or can read music....
I should invest in hearing aides as they will not be able to hear beyond age 21.....

Totally agreed about modern pop music e.g. Top 40 stuff. Of course, I'm specifically referring to the stuff that's come to dominate the pop charts in the 1990s & since (although it probably first started in the 1980s) and not the Top 40 of the 1980s and earlier. As previously alluded to, the auto-tuned crap is particularly evil.
As bad as this is, I still must say that I dislike rap/hip-hop even more. This stuff also has a strong presence in contemporary Top 40.
I don't like most metal but like certain stuff though. In general, I respect the musicianship in metal much more than the above, even if I don't like it.
I believe though, that there are plenty of excellent, young musicians out there today. With exceptions (like Adele & Coldplay), you're not going to find them in the Top 40 though. Instead, they're more beneath the surface in various musical genres.

Slick pop of any variety leaves me cringing.
I like classical, unless it's opera, then I usually hate it.
Country music is just about always awful, unless it's blue grass or Frank Zappa's "Harder Than Your Husband"

Really the only genre I can't find any music I enjoy in is dubstep. I like some hip-hop, I like some country-ish stuff, and there's even some modern pop that's catchy enough for me to enjoy for what it is, but I will never understand dubstep.
