Original line-up with Fripp, Wetton, Bruford, Cross, Muir line-up a
close second. The original group was ground breaking in so many ways.
As Fripp said the original band had a "good fairy." They were certainly
a magic combination of musicians, and WAY ahead of their time
musically. As Bill Bruford once said after seeing a performance of the
original band, "I was so blown away, I walked all the way home telling
everyone I ran into about what I had just witnessed."

Fripp, Wetton, Bruford, Cross - just listen to The Night Watch ot The Great Deceiver box set.
The double trio comes a close second.

The ITCOTCK line-up, followed by the LTIA line-up. I also do like percussion quite a lot!

Fripp, Wetton, Bruford, Cross, Muir
Muir added an extra element to Crimsons music. To fully realize his contributions to Larks Tongues, you must listen to the album with two speakers. One will have Bruford, and the other with Muir. Then you will realize how important he was for the band at the time. Very crazy guy also!

I chose the SaBB line-up, but the LTTiA line-up would be a close second...

i don't know really if the prescence of muir was determinant in the realisation of lark's tongues, but that album is one of my three favourite king crimson albums, and that is the reason why i choose the fifth line up
