This guy put the groove in virtually every 1960s soul classic you could name & I was lucky enough to see him (with the rest of the MGs) backing Neil Young in 1993.

Dunn was in Tokyo for a series of shows. News of his death was posted on the Facebook site of his friend and fellow musician Steve Cropper,who was on the same tour.Cropper said Dunn died in his sleep.

The powerful bass notes built the foundation for hits like Otis Redding’s “Respect,” Sam and Dave’s “Soul Man” and Wilson Pickett’s “Mustang Sally,”died this Sunday morning in Tokyo.

RIP. He was a fine bass player, not just with The MG's but with Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, Sam & Dave, and countless others.
