Thanks to recent new albums by The Time (under the name The Original 7ven), The Family (fDeluxe), and Sheila E. my interest in the period of popular R&B music known as "The Minneapolis Sound" has been rekindled. Specifically the time period from the early to mid-1980's, just funky and fun music. I love the Prince albums Dirty Mind and Controversy, as well as recordings he produced for others such as The Glamorous Life and Ice Cream Castles. I also love the jazz albums Prince recorded as Madhouse.

I know this music is far removed from Prog, but does anyone else share any love for these bands/songs? Certainly not all were equally great (and some mentioned in the Wiki article I never heard of)
