I don't think The Whirlwind/TA is a mega-church praise album or band.......I think there are similar religious overtones as with any other artists might do.......I'vre read the lyrics a few times, yea most if it is very obscure but some if it is pretty simple to me. Like Wind Blew Them All Away....to me I almost feel it is about New Orleanians who left because of Katrina.
Suppers Ready is more religious a song to me than Whirlwind.
But that's just me

Or, at the very least, I would have been happy if the song "The Whirlwind" ended after "Is it really happening" and then, "Dancing with Eternal Glory" were just one aditional song... so that the album might have been in theory a 2 song album... I know it's completley irrelevant, but that would allow me to say that I love "The Whirlwind" song from start to end, and just don't care about that extra song in the album.

I'll admit, I think Dancing With Eternal Glory is a little overlong during the first couple of minutes, but I feel the rest of it is great and a fitting conclusion to the song/album.

It's a beautiful conclusion to one of the best composed pieces of music any of the members have been a part of. It's also one of the best finale's of Neal, Roine, Mike, etc. Up there with the finale to Garden of Dreams, Octavarium, Question Mark (?), and Duel With The Devil.

As far as I'm concerned, I don't really care about religious lyrics. I just don't like the last song from The Whirlwind. Well, perhaps I like it just a little bit, but nothing nearly as great as all the rest of the album. I would rather they had not included it. | I'd feel like the music was unresolved if it ended after Is It Really Happening?. Would you prefer a different ending? | I would. The lyrics of the ending don't bother me at all really. I just find that it plods on for too long, and I was actually kind of disappointed that it wasn't a completely over the top big dramatic prog type of conclusion. It just sort of ends. I have grown to like it more over time, but I still feel like they could have done a lot better. It seems anti-climactic to me. I mean, if they are going to be so over the top as to create a 78 minute long suite, why end it in such a mellow and non-bombastic manner? But that's just me ![Smile Smile](smileys/smiley1.gif) |
I'm not sure, perhaps "Is it Really Happening" would sound good as the final song for me. It's one of my favourites, at least, I'd have to make up my mind if it would sound right as the last one. I wouldn't know is some other song would have been better than "Dancing with Eternal Glory" as the final song... I guess they would have had to write that song... Or perhaps the very "Dancing with Eternal Glory" would have done fine if they had kept it under 5 minutes.

So true!!!
And if they top it with a double album epic, I don't think my physical body could take it.

If this is true, this will make my year.
They have toured the last couple of time FIVE minutes from my home (sadly, I had not heard anything from them at that time). If they make an album and tour, I'll DEFINITELY be there this time. I'm calling a triple album. ![Tongue Tongue](https://www.progarchives.com/forum/smileys/smiley17.gif)

That would be cool, but I wonder if they can come with something as good as "The Whirlwind" again. So far that's my favourite album. (Well, as a matter of fact, I haven't heard their first album, and the Whirlwind I've only heard through the live album "The Whirltour", but because of what I heard in that live album, I know I loved all of the Whirlwind - except the very last song, perhaps - while there were many bits from what I heard of songs from the first album I didn't like so much). |
Dude,
You need to get Transatlantic - SMPTe... and get the Roine mix as well.

It may actually happen. They seem to top themselves from each previous album. I'm calling a double album, with at least an hour long epic on each disc. Or 4 roughly 35 minute songs, 2 on each disc.
