Topic: When Rush throttled back... Posted: January 23 2012 at 23:13 |
I don't know what The Twilight Zone has, but I always feel somehow hypnotized when I listen to it, one of my favorite songs in their catalog
|
I look up, I'm almost blinded
by the warmth of what's inside me
and the taste that's in my soul,
but I'm dead inside as I stand alone...

Losing it. Just might be my favourite Rush track along with Jacob's Ladder and Villa Strangiato. Still Signals is their best album IMO.

Different Strings. Great guitar solo...which unfortunately fades away as it's hitting it's stride.

Witch Hunt and Losing It: a tie. I voted for the latter.

Different Strings for me, but Rivendell would be a close second....that song really strikes a chord in me

WHERE iS RESIST?!! Its the Best one, especially the beautiful acoustic version from Rush in Rio. |
I had almost the same response. Where is it?! In any case, I voted for Losing It. The violin solo is great, and the lyrics are sad, poignant, and powerful.

Definitional hairsplitting aside, I voted Madrigal. Outstanding in its simplicity and beauty.

Here Again is a bluesy number so would not be a ballad in any case. Most of these songs aren't(but i'd have to check the lyrics) |
Read properly my first post please. I don't talk about "ballads" but about "slow tracks". |
I read it. I understood it. You said a ballad was a slow song. I disagree |
The poll question is perhaps obvious, isn't it? |
Yes....which is my favourite. I haven't decided yet.

I don't want to write directly "ballads",But it seems you would like to because this term is somewhat disputable, indeed i.e. some Rush so-called "ballads" so-called by whom? is played rather in a middle tempo after all, with acoustic guitar and gentle vocals. But I've tried to find their real slow tracks. So I presume slow = ballad for you? That's interesting there are far and few between them. Isn't it a shame? |
